First off thanks to all for your contributions in these forums. Its gotten me to this point Im at now. With that said Im currently at Prime and Im enjoying it, have been for 6 months now. Being a veteran they placed me on the fast track program so instead of a 12 mo obligation I need only 9. Being from TX Im interested in the oilfield and I see Stevens has a tanker division which interests me amongst a few others. I plan on leaving Prime in March after my 9, but my question is with a DUI back in October 2014 will that hinder me with other companies? If so what companies should I look at? I got my hazmat ready to go to the fields so all insight is appreciated!

Hazlewood Act for trucking tuition
Thanks G-Town I definitely will! Im saving to pay off the fines and I've read a few of the companies that have anywhere from a 3-5 yr cooling period if you have a DUI so I know I got some work ahead of myself.

Hazlewood Act for trucking tuition
Great news!!! I called down to Panola College in Carthage, TX and was told they ACCEPT the Hazlewood Exemption! That was music to my ears, now the next phase is that I get the money needed to take care of this other issue. I had a DUI in California back in '14 while I was in service (stupid I know) and I was able to get a packet which would waive my right to drive in CA for some years in exchange to have a hold taken off my TX license. I've since added a SR-22 to meet the Cali requirements and now just have to pay a failure to appear of $2500 then I can get all this dropped and FINALLY enroll in CDL school.

Hazlewood Act for trucking tuition
Hey fellas, as we speak Im working on getting myself together to venture into the trucking business. Ive been reading different blogs and videos on how people got started cost wise with getting into trucking. My question being a veteran is can I use my hazlewood act exemption to pay for the tuition as I know it would only pay that and not the other fees associated? If so, anybody familiar with schools in the east tx area (Nacogdoches, Lufkin, etc.)

My first post so here goes. Im VERY much interested in beginning a career in trucking, but I have a barrier (or so I think) that maybe could trip me or maybe im tripping. When I was in the navy back in '14 I got a DUI that went under my commands nose because I paid a lawyer upfront to get it handled. I was never formally charged but I did have to sit in the "drunk" tank for 8hrs and was issued a ticket which I disregarded. Fast forward to now and I was gearing up to go to the local truck driving school under the WIOA program and all I needed was to get my learners permit to begin so I go to the DMV and they tell me that I have a hold on my license and I can get my permit once its removed then gave me a paper with this number in California to call. So I call and lo and behold this is the madatory actions unit and they tell me that ticket that I disregarded was $2500 and I have to pay this before they can even think about removing it. Im not from California as I have a TX DL but is anyone familiar with such a situation and would this trip me up? Also I checked my TX DL verified record and I don't see any charge so Im believing Im clear.
Thanks all Yamu!

Hiring prospects with DUI
I know it wouldnt go away and being that I was open and upfront with them they accepted me with open arms. I was asking more so for oilfield based companies.
