Ok, I will check into that. Just seems strange to have to go back to school when I have over a million safe miles driving big rigs. That's like telling someone they have to get their PhD over again. Lol.
Absolutely go through your unemployment office and ask for WIOA funding to pay for cdl school. get pre hire from transam and whoever else you possibly can, because they'll probably require those before they pay for your school.
Good luck. I hope companies give you a chance, but many larger ones will want 5+ years out, as you already know. Talk to Carolina cargo, along with smaller companies too.

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask a question. I got a DWI back on 2/2/15. I called Trans Am trucking as they will hire someone when at least 2 years have passed. I called them up, and the recruiter told me I have to have 120 hr's behind the wheel to get hired there.
I went to C1 truck driving school back in 2007. I was sponsored by USA Truck. I had to drive for a month with a trainer with them to get that 120 hrs. Lol Am I the only one that thinks what she's saying I need make any sense ? No one will let me go to s school because these are run by trucking companies that won't hire you for at least 5 years.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I get 120 hrs behind the wheel ? Oh, and I drove from 2007 till 2014. I was involved in a accident with another big rig. He was at fault. Killed a lady behind me when he drifted into my lane. NTSB and UPS and Honda all said I did a outstanding job avoiding a head on collision and not overreacting and going into ditch and rolling my truck.
But I'm afraid seeing the dead woman gave me PTSD and survivors guilt. Quit job got DWI a few months later. Lost everything. Homeless now. Trying to pick up the pieces now. No education, very good driver tho.

Hours behind the wheel
Yeah, C1 is owned by Raider trucking now. Its 5 years before they will consider you. And I don't have the money to pay for it myself. I'll try the unemployment commission. I'm in Texas. I let my CDL expire cause I didn't take the physical to renew it. It expired on 2/19/2015. I got the DWI on 2/22/2015. I had a job at wal mart. But they wouldn't give me full time. No jobs around here in the country. Live far away from any major city. But I guess I'll figure something out. Thank for responding. And be safe out there.
