Just applied for company-sponsored CDL training

Hello everyone.

I joined Trucking Truth a few months back to start learning a bit more about truck driving. I began reading all kinds of posts and stories as well as looking at other internet sites and videos. It's amazing what is out there and what is said about trucking.

I gotta say, from the start I liked TT's direct, respectful, call it like it is conversation and sharing of good, positive information in the forum. It definitely influenced me in my decision to want to pursue a professional truck driving career. So, I am happy to say that today I submitted my application thru TT in the hopes I get accepted to a company-sponsored CDL school training program! Can't tell you how excited (and nervous!) I am right now (good nervous though, not bad nervous).

What's funny is that it seems I started on the wrong foot though. In the email I received from TT confirming my application was received and also forwarded to some companies that were listed in it, I applied to Rhoel thru the link which took me to their company website, only to get to first base. After filling the basic personal information (step 1), the next page showed me a message saying they were not hiring from my area at this time. Got to hear that in a cool video as well which I thought was pretty funny for my first application experience (LOL). I did called them up right away to verify this and unfortunately they reconfirmed it. Told me they only go down as far as Houston, TX (I am in Brownsville, TX).

Oh well, unfortunately not a match at this time. It kind a hurt because they were one of the companies I would have liked to start off my career with. But that's ok. We'll just move on and look forward to having some replies soon from other companies out there so I can start this new chapter in my life (wife is already on board and everything).

Thank you everyone for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us neewbies wannabe truckers and for being such a supportive community.

God bless and stay safe on your travels
