Paid CDL Training Prime vs. Roehl

Great Info Thanks Splitter

I don’t know the policy at other company paid training programs but at Prime you have two options depending on which facility you train at. Because you’re on the west coast, chances are you’ll be training at the Salt Lake City terminal. There you’ll have to take & pass your CLP in your home state. So to answer your question about whether you can do both at the same time? No, since you’ll have to come in with your CLP first, receive your training, then pass your CDL in Utah.

I would confirm this with your recruiter first. I did my training at the Springfield, MO terminal & that program is completely different. You’ll be taking your CLP at Springfield & be testing for your CDL there also. Once you pass your CDL, you’ll then go to your home state & transfer your license at their licensing department.

On feedback to compare training at either company? This training section has many diaries of actual members who went through their respective programs. Just use the search bar above & see which better suits your specific needs & likes. Only you know what those are. If you have specific questions, then ask away & we'll try to answer them as best we can.

Good luck going forward.

Paid CDL Training Prime vs. Roehl

Hi All, I was leaning towards Primes apprenticeship program and now after I see the TT article on Roehl >seems like a better avenue for me going with Roehl's program. Anybody out there have any feedback? Also, I have a Nevada DL and now reside in CA. Could I go for both DL and CLP at same time for CA?

Thanks everyone, Russ

Hello, Russ here, I am serously thinking of starting a new career as OTR truck driver. I had a really bad experience in my last job. I have worked in the corporate world for the last 35 years and I'm done with it. I have drove 26k and under trucks and have been certified on all type of heavy equipment, my last job as a maanger they certified me on a 40,000# forklift that I spent most my time on. I'm hands on type of person and love driving, I sick and tired of people and thier BS and owners. OK after my whining I was wondering if I'm to old to start a career as a CDL driver? And is Prime or Swift the best path to go as far as paid schooling (being paid) while schooled? Thank you, Russ
