In January of 2017 I had a traffic accident in my personal vehicle; me at fault with a failure to yield, resulting in no injuries but requiring a tow-away of my personal vehicle, which as far as I understand makes it a serious DOT reportable accident (as told by a recruiter). Now that I am 21 and interested in getting my CDL and starting a career driving and I contacted Wilson Logistics and went through the application process, and was on my way to getting started, but upon submitting my accident report I was told that their insurance would not hire anyone with a serious traffic violation in the past 5 years. Knowing very little about the ins and outs of the industry I am wondering if this accident of mine has put a hold on me starting my career... Is there any hope for me to start from square one with this accident on my record? At the moment I am at square one, no experience and no CLP hoping to get my CDL through a company-sponsored school and my main question is: Will that be possible given my driving history? (no other violations except the single accident resulting in a tow-away of my personal vehicle). I'm very interested in making a career out of trucking, and any info regarding possible steps I can take would be very appreciated (unless of course, the accident has placed me SOL).
