Texas Vision Waiver

Essentially, it means that on a DOT Medical screening, you must pass at least the bare minimum required.

There is a part where you read individual letters from a chart at about 20 feet. Another part determines if you are color blind. A third part checks out your depth perception.

Is your 20/20, 20/60 natural or with corrective lenses?

Thanks for your reply.

My vision (20/20, 20/60) is without corrective lenses. On my DOT physical report, it says 20/13 ; 20/60 and with both eyes 20/13.

Color blind: No , Horizontal field of Vision 85/85 both eyes.

I was told that I could drive Intrastate only if I get the vision waiver approved. I just wanted to check if any Transport companies will be willing to hire me once I get my CDL or is it an issue having the vision waiver restriction on my CDL?

Texas Vision Waiver

I wanted to apply for a CDL in Texas for the first time and since I have some problem with my eye sight (20/20 ; 20/60) So I had to apply for a Texas vision waiver. But I am a bit confused by the following statement on the Texas vision waiver application,

"This waiver is not a guarantee of employment. ... Holders of a Texas Intrastate Vision Waiver who do not meet the physical requirements for a DOT Medical Card may be legally denied employment".

What does that mean?
