Company has my truck running on 144 hour temp tags over and over

Why are they doing this? Does it mean its unregistered why would they keep on buying temp tags to operate?

Well the truck has insurance but im just not on the payroll technically speaking. So im confused on that part. I could provide his insurance but since he never ran mt record or did an application technically his insurance does not know about me. Well im collecting unemployment until my baby is born. Im in odessa tx i got laid off because of covid. Me and my wife are out here alone and she told me not to ztart driving until she heals up from the baby or she gonna gave the baby in vegas and i cant live with my inlaws id rather die. Just could use the extra cash. The oilfieldhas been dead for months things just started picking up in february after the price of oil went up to 65 a barrel. Beijing biden issl shutting down all government subsidies but luckily texas is private land so were in luck. New mexico is screwed though they will probacky driving to texas.

I was offered a position driving a dump truck with small trailer to haul construction equipment for a tiny one crew company. He is paying me cash. Technically im not on the books so im not really insured to drive right? Yet its not my company or my truck so im not the one responsible to provide insurance right? If i get pulled over i could be just doing a favor for my friend am i allowed to do this with my cdl? Or is it my word against his? What are the consequences does that mean im driving a vehicle with no insurance. Im the only driver he only has one dump truck. I think his entire crew is paid under the table as well. Couldnt i just say i provided my id health card and application i dont know why he didnt put me on the payroll?
