Trailer pull

Jopa, be serious.....lolololol. l might come across those and other terms and it would be "nice" if l didn't look stupid coz l didn't know what they meant.

So, help me out guys!

Hey, as long as you are asking questions, you're not looking stupid ... the saying is, "The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked ..." Now that may not be completely true in all cases but it is a good philosophy for someone who is willing to learn ... and I think you qualify as "willing" because you are asking for information ... I am sure there are several "terms" that you are not familiar with (I was trying - really - to come up with a few but I am drawing a blank) but the main thing is to not feel dumb for asking ... none of us came into this profession knowing a lot and you are not expected to know more than the rest ... if someone makes a comment to the effect that you are not quite "up to speed" because you are not familiar with a term or saying, that is THEIR problem, not yours ... you just keep getting smarter all of the time by asking and that way you can help the ones coming along behind you- and seem "really smart" at the same time, n'est pas??

Getting ready to go to Prime HQ in MO for their CDL training.

Baby wipes are a must have, especially for flatbed, we get dirty and sweaty and don't always have access to running water.

They be good for "wiping" other parts of the anatomy, if you get my drift ... trucks are close in environments and you don't want to be any smellier than needs be ... just a "gentle" suggestion ...

Confused

double-quotes-start.png

Are you worried he may fail the drug test? Why?

double-quotes-end.png

He was feeling depressed I gave him some of my bupropion (I know that us a no no but I was desperate to help him and he had no healthcare coverage. I read it can cause a false positive for Amphetamines

Not a good precedent ... the week of orientation at prime is CHILD"S PLAY compared to the stress he is about to encounter in training ... your husband should consider any other approach to dealing with stress OTHER than pharmacology ... not the best decision he's ever made (or you, for that matter) ... I recommend prayer if he's a believer and maybe meditation if he's not ... anything but drugs as this could come back to bite him on the butt real easily ... just a suggestion ...

Craziest road you've driven?

I've been over most of the passes out west here that have a reputation and they can be nerve racking, no doubt ... however, the most white knuckle road I've been on SO FAR was a short, maybe 5 mile, side road to get to an interstate in (I believe, but not sure) Pennsylvania ... this was a "short cut" that the GPS sent us on (one of my last loads with my TNT trainer) ... the road was two lanes and they could not have been much more than 9 feet wide - I mean NO SLACK whatsoever and there was also NO paved shoulder at all ... the edge of the pavement immediately dropped off about 8 feet on both sides of the road at a 45 degree angle ... in other words, if you let your steer tire get off the pavement you were DONE ... lucky for me there were no curves to speak of because is you got a trailer tandem off I think it would have rolled the whole rig ... so half way through this torture my "trainer" says, "I've been watching you and you haven't looked at you right hand mirror even ONCE!" like that was some kind of major f**k-up ... I said to him, "Who gives a F**K! I'm trying to keep this beast on the road and there's nothing to see on the right hand side that I'm the least bit interested in!" To which he replied, "What if a deer was coming up on your right side?" To which I replied, "Unless he's in front of me and I have time to stop, then I'm gonna run his a** over and I really could give a f**k about some dumb deer committing suicide when I am scare sh**less about rolling this truck!" Was not a pleasant exchange and NO other pass or combination of hills has ever scared me as much as that little county road ...

Here's A New dash cam crash caught on roadway

The drunk driving the Camaro was without a license? I wonder if it was actually HIS car or if he was driving a friend's car at the time ... who passes on the left shoulder, anyway? Evidently, not him - at least not successfully ... like Bugs always said, "What a maroon!"

OTR Training program

Oh, and we have the Female Adaption Option for $9.95 (check or money order) available, too! (It's called a "funnel" in some circumstances) ...

OTR Training program

You need to get yourself a "Mobile Urination Station" just $19.95, check or money order ... actually, next time you fill the windshield fluid up, save the gallon jug - that's a good substitute ... also, be a responsible trucker and DO NOT CHUCK a full bottle to the side of the road ... these become toxic (to say the least) in the sunshine and SOMEONE has to eventually pick up the trash ... very unpleasant ... go ahead and wait until you are stopped somewhere and discretely pour out the contents ... it will "dry up" eventually and nature will have not only called but will have helped you solve the "disposal" problem ... "the solution to pollution is dilution" so the spring rains (or melting snow) will "wash away" the residue ...

Trailer pull

Ok, I have a question for the veteran truckers. My wife and I are finally on the road. We picked up a load from Conway, in Sacramento, headed for Illinois. The trailer is one of CRST's older trailers, which tend to pull to the right. My wife tends to hug the right side, and she is worried about it. Is there anything that we can do to stop the trailer from pulling. Any advice would be appreciated.

Congrats on getting out as a team ... about the trailer, someone has probably hit something with the trailer tandems that has put the alignment out enough for you to notice it's not "pulling" centered down the road ... I've seen this myself in the past ... nothing you can do short of having maintenance done on the trailer to correct this - it's like getting an alignment adjustment on a car as it needs tools and expertise to accomplish ... all you can do is compensate for the off-track wheels by being extra conscious of the where the trailer is at all times ... one technique a friend showed me was to keep the left "fender" mirror (we both drive Freightliners) lined up on the stripe to the driver's side ... this will keep you away from the right side shoulder or other lane if you are not in the far right lane ... also, be REAL careful of the extra "cheat" to the passenger side as you make curves or right turns ... if it is real bad, let your dispatch know it needs repair and get it to a company shop after you unload ... if it is just annoying and your company declines to pull it out of service (no pun intended), hope you get a D&H load soon where you can drop off the crooked trailer for a different one ... good luck ...
