Be warned about Automatic/Manual CDL
Central Refrigerated just got in a load of new Cascadia Evolutions at Salt Lake while I was there for training. Around 6-8 of them that I saw, maybe more. From what I'm hearing around the terminal, they're phasing out the red/black tractors in favor of white with the Swift merger, as well as the Volvo's, and their new company trucks will likely be all or almost all automanual.

Hopefully this is the right place to put this.
Is there any way to get the login timeout extended? There have been times I've logged out in the middle of typing up a response, or because I had a call I had to take and had to step away shortly. I've looked in my settings menu and can't find a way to "remember me" or "keep me logged in". It appears to be a site feature.
Am I missing something? Can it be adjusted?

Right there with you. I've got two days left in my current job. Friday at 3:30 I punch out for the last time from what I've been doing basically as long as I've been working. Monday, Central is going to voluntarily put me in the drivers seat of an 80,000lb machine powered by exploding dinosaurs. It's Incredibly intimidating, very exciting to see the change. I'm also nervous as I've ever been about making a change.
In the end, I think it'll be a good move for me. But it's not without nerves.

Ask if they're dispatched Solo or Team. Solo means you'll be awake/asleep together. Team one will drive while the other sleeps.

Possibly a dumb question.... How are taxes handled as an OTR driver?
Thanks again for all the replies! Starting school March 3rd, kind of want to have an idea going in at things I may be looking at.

Possibly a dumb question.... How are taxes handled as an OTR driver?
Lets say I live in a no-income-tax state such as Nevada, as I plan to move back there after getting my CDL. Do I just file as a Nevada resident? Am I taxed by each state I drive through? Do I pay in the state the company is headquartered in? I just thought about this a few minutes ago, and my brief internet searching has left me more confused than anything.

Brett, thanks for the reply. Definitely helpful. I've read a lot on forums that it's better to drive for a company that has a terminal in your hometown, so that's why I was asking. If it doesn't really matter, that's that much better as I have more options.

Looking to the future, I'm wanting to buy a house in SW Las Vegas area. Are there any companies that have terminals in Las Vegas, N Las Vegas, Henderson area? I've looked into all the big ones I can think of like Swift, CR England, CRST, Werner, Central. None of them apparently do, and I'm not thinking of any others off the top of my head.

A little backing tip for the DMV testing.
Just passed my Utah test. All I can say is f everything about blindside parallel. I got straight and offset perfect, ended up with 11pts on parallel. Incredibly pointless maneuver that I'll never use, according to everyone I've talked to, but it still almost cost me my CDL.
