Blacklisted from company for interview question
I went for training with a large trucking company as well and I was sent home because of a physical issue. When I called another company they told me that my last employer "Terminated" me during training. It sounds harsh but all it really means is that you no longer have a relationship with the company. Unfortunately many companies will skip to the next application and not give you a second thought. This other company told me to go to Driver IQ and register with them. This is kind of a clearing house for employers and it will tell you what other potential employees are seeing. You can also give your side of the story for the record but either way don't take it personally, it seems like the trucking industry can be cut-throat and I guess if they're going to trust you with thousands of dollars in equipment and goods then they have the right to be a pain in the @ss about it.
Wish you the best in your future employment~

Sleep Apnea - Are C-PAP Machines Commonly Powered on 120 Volts or 12 Volts
I'd like to know how the C-PAP machines are commonly powered when trucking. If it needs to run on 12 volts then I'll need a power adapter. Is there a standard or popular choice? Please let me know, thanks.

So yeah, ELDT regulations... Like paying $5,000+ wasn't enough. If it was truly for safety they'd offer it for free so everyone can get up to speed. I had my HAZMAT 20 years ago and dropped it so it only cost me $86.50 for the TSA background check to get it back. The testing cost was absorbed by my license renewal (that was lucky). As far as the written test goes, all you have to do is read the HAZMAT chapter twice and take some practice tests and you should breeze right through it. And like everybody says: Get the background check first because it's going to take at least 6 weeks for them to process it. Not sure why it takes so long, I live in the USA and I've been to Canada... You'd think it'd be a little quicker.

Regional/Local Routes For New Drivers
Nathan,
Columbus, OH is a trucking mecca so you're in a good spot. I'm not sure what your financial situation is but you may be able to contact "Ohio Means Jobs" for assistance. If you qualify they may pay for your training so you can not have to work under a contract. OMJ will assist those who need employment or need to get better employment. I understand Roadmaster Drivers School is in Columbus and if you contact them or any drivers school they can help you with the process. It can't hurt to give them a call and see what they can offer. You may be able to take your training on nights or weekends and get your CDL before 2024. You're definitely a faster hire if you have your CDL in-hand.
Wish you the best as a driver (and as a husband).
