Stephanie F.'s Bio

New CDL A holder that had a bad start with a company. I pulled over a pole, caught a pole that was black with my DOT bumper, and then a flat that messed up the rim which is being listed as an accident. Nothing was ever reported to law enforcement (no citations, tickets). I just keep hitting a block to getting back into trucking. I need extra training.

Trying to find a job

I started off at Swift. Completed school and obtained my CDL. Went through training and on my own. I was checking out a truck stop which didn't feel secure. As I was pulling around, there was another semi driving straight for me. Instead of stopping, I pulled to the left and ran over a cement pole with the trailer. This was my second week alone. A few weeks later, I was driving through construction in Tennessee. The road was tore up and bumpy. I didn't see that I had a flat because of how badly the road was or that it was close to the rear along with night. It messed up the tire and rim. About a month later, I was attempting to back into a dock and my DOT bumper got caught on a black pole that I did not see. It pulled it from the dirt, but it only needed a shovel to put it back down and caused no damage to truck or even the pole.

Needless to say, I was terminated. It upset me so much that I went back to school teaching but still carry the desire to drive. I keep hearing I need 3 - 6 months driving without an accident to get hired, but I cannot find anyone to hire me. None of these accidents involved the police. Nothing shows on my DAC at all.

Does anyone have any suggestions???

Bad start with CDL and cannot find a job

I started with a company and really feel that I didn't get the training I needed. While I was with my trainer, I was golden and everything was fine. When I went solo, I had three mishaps in three weeks. I pulled over a pole because another driver was pulling into me, caught a "black" pole with my DOT bumper, and then I had a flat and messed up the rim. All are being listed as my fault. Needless to say, the company let me go in July. I am trying to get back into driving and it is now November. Any ideas? I keep hitting brick walls.
