How to handle an mvr

Hi everyone,

My name is Joshua.

I might consider a career as a truck driver.

Today's question of mine deals with driving/mvr records. I've had accidents before, but most of them DID NOT come with a police report - and I don't think an insurance report either.

So do those accidents (the ones WITHOUT a police report) need to be reported on those intelliapp applications? I guess if those applications say report all accident (at fault, reported, un reported, not at fault, etc), then i need to do exactly that, right? Would noting "no police report" and "everyone was fine to my knowledge" and "we each went on our way" make for better chances of getting hired (well in my case into the company CDL training program since i don't have a CDL) in spite of having had accidents.

As far as the state is concerned, I have just about a perfect driving record - but then again I at least know I don't.

Let's say I decided NOT to list the non-police report accidents. What do I say when/if the company interviewer/recruiter asks about the mvr? What would you do or say?

Unfortunately when I tried to get on to Roehl Transport's GYCDL program, I didn't pass the official phone interview - whether it had to do with the mvr discussion or not. Anyway.

It is (or might be) real or phantom concerns (or both) over my mvr that has had me not try to get into these CDL company sponsored programs more/faster. And like i said, Roehl didn't pan out. I wanted to look into Halvor Lines, but when I ended up giving them a buzz the other day, they said they no longer do their CDL training program. Damn, 1k a week would have been nice! :D

What would you do if you were in my situation? Are there any CDL-training companies that DON'T give a **** about the record? Do the companies that do care about it just the fact that it happened (conviction or not) or ONLY actual convictions? I do NOT have any convictions - or even if i do, they DO NOT show on my mvr, and i do not think I have ever been arrested.

Oh and the same questions go for when I HAVE been pulled over, but have only gotten warnings (but not tickets or the stops placed on the mvr).

Thanks,

Joshua

Should I keep my CDL?

As you all know my first driving job was a huge disaster and will probably be used as an example to new drivers and potential drivers on here of what not to do at you're first company lol. I've turned my truck back in today and am moving on with my life trying to figure out what the hell I'm going to do next. My question is, is it worth keeping my CDL or should I downgrade since I will probably never drive a CMV again. By the way just to clear up any confusion since I saw someone on another post saying I was terminated, Western Express never fired me my DM asked me to resign and I agreed so I didn't have a termination on my record. I was having trouble making appointments on time and knew he could use that as a way to get rid of me.

Were there 2 issues (the getting to appointments on time AND something disasterdly) or are you considering dropping the CDL BECAUSE of an additional issue? or are you considering dropping the CDL BECAUSE keeping appointment times IS the disaster. I did notice you wrote "I will probably never drive a CMV again"

If you don't want to share that's alright. I was curious what happened

KLLM Academy

I like that they get you the CLP as well. One less headache before showing up to training. I wanted to (well possibly) go with KLLM on that basis, but because I reported a car accident, my chance got tossed in the trash for several years. I think i even called recently and said something like "hey that accident i reported didn't have a police report, can you guys remove it" but I think we left it at "KLLM has to go by what you reported" Oh well.

Good luck :D

Companies that train for both CLP AND CDL

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies.

With the High road CDL test prep thing Kearsey linked, if I used that but did NOT study the state or federal CDL manual, would I still have a safe bet of passing the CLP test? If i do still have a safe bet of passing it, maybe I can direct my time into just going through the questions that the High Road CDL test prep bank gives me(?)

Companies that train for both CLP AND CDL

Hey everyone,

My name is Joshua.

I am more or less in the process of getting into the Get Your CDL program with Roehl Transport. However, they and who knows how many other companies require you to get a Commercial Learner's Permit before coming to the training.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any "we train you to get your CDL" companies (like roehl for instance) that train you both for CLP AND CDL so that you would only need to arrive with your current base driver's (4-wheeler) license. I know KLLM does exactly what I am referring to, but they couldn't or wouldn't accept me because of a recent car accident I had. But are there any others?

Thanks,

Joshua
