How to stay safe as a female truck driver?

I'm considering a truck driving job and my biggest concern is not the driving, but the stopping. (I love outdoor adventuring. Bicycling is one of my most favorite ways of outdoor adventuring because it's pretty hard to stop somebody on wheels.) How do you female truck drivers stay safe when stopping to fuel, shower, use the restroom, walk the dog, or go to sleep? What is the scariest experience you've had as a truck driver?

Is the market against new truck drivers in Tucson, AZ?

I live near Tucson, AZ and I'm wanting to get a truck driving job, but without a CDL or the money to invest in CDL school or the desire to go further into debt, my only option is to find a company that pays for my CDL schooling and gives me a job right after this. When I look for truck driving companies in Tucson that will pay for CDL schooling, though, I can only find one so far- Roehl Transport. They rejected me because I live within commuting distance of Tucson but I don't live IN Tucson. :/ Everybody else that I've seen thus far only wants experienced drivers. It's the chicken and egg problem again.
