On my way to training: Optimistic with a touch of OMG...what did I just sign up for?

Well if your too girlie or high maintenance then I must not need to be a truck driver. I roll up to the nail salon in my rig lol. What company have you decided on? Life out here is different for everyone especially woman. You have to be 10xs better than a man and still only get half the respect. Your attitude and your outlook will determine how your truck driving career unfolds for you. There are many things out here that will make you or break you. If you have never read my training diary check it out. Its a little jumbled cause it was pulled off the old blog by another member but its my first 3 months on the job. Good luck out there.

lmao. i was wondering the same thing. im 21 so i still have the lets go shopping mode in me. i will fit my truck where ever i can and go shopping. get my nails done and all that. im glad i am not the only one who has this mind set. lol

Im going to cdl school, and my boyfriend is a trucker. :( we arent in the same company

I dated a trucker and we did not work for the same company. Its exactly like a long distance relationship and requires work, trust and understanding. We managed to see each other about once a month when our loads coincided sometimes more. However we both typically ran the NE region so PA was always a meeting point. It will be tough but can be done.

who do you work for? coming from a female trucker, how do the guys treat you? i come from a long line of otr truckers. my mom was one. i know i get the same looks. is she a spouse or lot lizzard? have you had any issues?

Girls can drive trucks too!!!! central/swift cdl test in memphis tn4/21 and school in utah! .

ive been born and raised around 18 wheelers. so when i turned 21. i decided i wanted to venture out once again( i saw 38 states when i was 6-8 with my mom) so i figured to keep trucking in my blood. now after looking in to companies, all the darn good ones want 6 months experience. ive driven a 10 speed for the farm. well since i can touch the clutch, then learned to float the gears( im still needing that phone book at 21 and 5'5''. so i went with central refrigerated. yeah swift.. laugh all you want. im stuck at 62 mph i wish i had a faster truck. lol.. after my school is paid off. im looking to drive for someone else. i want to be a flatbedder(team with my bf maybe) im actually kinda nervous about this, being judged ive driven since i was younger. im in that "comfortable stage" i taught everything i knew myself. not sharing a living space for 5 weeks. i barely can stand my boyfriend for 2 weeks( you know the real person you are with 24/7 and the only alone time is taking the dog out. that drives you crazy... i feel like living in that small of a space you should be married if it works out or if you are already married. im packing 2 days before i leave, im so nervous did i mention NERVOUS!!! oh i will report back on the first day of the cdl test.
