Probably going to get into regular trucking, I got some questions though
The main reason you will see some spread axles or tankers with a lift axle is the fact that it really saves the tires. By lifting that axle and rotating the tires regularly you get alot longer life out of the tires. It can also help with maneuvering during a back up although i have not had an opportunity to test that for myself.

Anybody know of any flatbed companies that train
Roehl, Prime, Maverick, TMC. Not positive on whether you need cdl or not prior to going to Maverick or TMC but have recently heard they both now have cdl training.

When i got my cdl I went through there school at the marshfield terminal which has changed now. However it was a requirment by the state of wisconsin to double clutch to pass the driving portion of the test. Also roehl required it while with a trainer and when I tested to upgrade to a solo driver I have since left there however I am quite sure those rules would not have changed.

Tmc otr flatbed, what kind of company are they to work for
I have not worked for them but have worked beside and talked to alot of there drivers and have not once ever heard anyone have any real complaint. The only thing anyone has ever said was that when they pull your truck in for inspection it had better be spotless but other then that a real solid place to work.

Owner operator day cab / local
I haul steel and the company i work for has a contract with a company in harvey illinois not far from northwest indiana where i also live. There is a major rail yard across from this contract account and there are always intermodal companies with posting in that area looking for O/O's two that come to mind are celtic transport and fore transportation. You won't find much help here as this a forum mainly for those folks looking to start a career in the industry and everyone here including myself highly discourages buying or leasing a truck especially whenjust breaking into the business. You may have better luck taking this question to another forum.
