TMC...Melton....Maverick....Roehl
Old School, Anchorman, I really appreciate your feedback, that's why I'm on this site. I wanted to start my career, as a truck driver, last year....but the timing just wasn't right. I visited about 10 different websites, where everyone on it, made it seem like being a trucker was the worst job that anyone could ever have, I thought to myself. ...there's no way this could be the case....I never remembered my uncle being as miserable as any of the people on those sites, so I searched on and found truckingtruth.com. I immediately knew this was a different site. While I had to put my career change on hold last year, I never stopped coming to this site and reading and researching. This site is the reason I asked the questions I did in this post, being I don't particularly have the time to go sit at the truck stops, I was hoping that by chance a driver for one of those companies my be bored and would share their experiences. I've searched this site and I've seen people's post about the 4 companies in question, but I have only found from orientation to when they get their truck, but really nothing after. Sorry for rambling on, I really do appreciate yalls input.

Assuming it was that simple, Anchorman....from what I've been told all companies say what they "need" to say, to get you there, but like I say, that's what I hear. I want to know who is telling more of the truth than the other.lol

Ok guys and gals, I was reading Old Schools post about the, I guess you would call it a physical tarp test? Here's my question I'm 5'7", I know I wouldn't have a problem getting the 120lb tarp from the ground to my shoulder, to the trailer, however lifting it 7ft in the air concerns me. How do you guys think I would fare?
Yes, Old School, it was your post about your experience at TMC. Thank you for the insight and advice. I just didnt want to get sent home( if I decide to work there) because of me not being able to lift something out of my reach. I'm a firm believer on work smarter, not harder, so whenever it's possible I will take advantage of the forklift driver.

Is or has anyone worked for TMC Transportation? What did or didn't you like? I would also like to hear from all flatbed, heavy haul, government load drivers.
Thanks in advanced for all comments and advice.

IM SURE THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED A 1000 TIMES
Old school and Mountain Girl, you guys bring up valid points. Your right you do have to trust that you are getting paid the right percentage of what the load pays, and that is scary. Whom do you trust? I personally, have no choice but to have an excellent work ethic, this was instilled in me at a young age, not purposely, but I just figured out that I would never not be able to support my family. I just want to make sure that just because I will be a rookie driver, that I won't be taken advantage of. I have a fault of being honest, and I expect it from other people as well. I can't stand for some one to say one thing and do another. If I say I'm going to do something I do it. I will not be "that guy" in the truck stop or on the forum, complaining of how my company is doing me wrong.....unless it's true, cause it will not be because I'm not doing all I can.

Also i am doing flatbed. i get CPM but almost went with TMC that does percentage. IDK about other companies that do percentage but i know at TMC the avg takehome for a rookie is about 800-1000. the only reason i didnt know with them and went with melton is my fiencee and i are in a pickle and cant afford two months of training pay at TMC where as we only have to deal with training pay for 1 month at melton.
TMC is actually at the top of my list for the companies I would want to start with. I will look into Melton. How do you like it so far there?
