DOT Physical expires while on knee surgury recovery

Hi everyone,

I am out n work restriction while recovering from knee surgery. I ruptured my patella tendon and i am one month into a three or 4 month recovery. My question is my DOT physical expires on July 6th. The BMV seems to be saying that they will suspend my CDL and then once I am able to return to work I can take my physical and turn it into the BMV and my CDL would be reinstated once the physical is complete. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this and what s the normal procedure for this circumstance. My CDL is in Ohio any thoughts would be apreciated.

T mobile reliable phone service to have over the road?

I everyone,

I just finished my training and I was in 30 states or more in the past 6 weeks. I have t-mobile and though there were places that reception was not very good I found that voice service was very good but LTE was hit and miss. I usually had 4g service in the cities but this was not the case in the remote areas. Also my plan provides for 3g a month and I found that this would only last for the first 10 days or so. If I was going over the road I would find it necessary to switch providers but it served its purpose for my short training period.

Permit achieved now off to CDL school

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking for quite a while now and thought I would let you all know that I passed the General Knowledge, Air braked and Combination Vehicles sections here in Ohio today. Must say that the High Road Training made all the difference and I really never did study my states manual but kept to the training here and used the practice tests. Dec 1st I will begin training at the Road Master here in Columbus OH. Since I live in Columbus it made sense to start here. I had been accepted into the Prime Training but the earliest I would have been able to start was January 5th due to their Christmas and New Years schedules.

Just a little background since this is my first time posting:

My background has been as a missionary in Latin America, Colombia was were I spent most of my time almost 20 years. But after that I returned to the USA and located close to family here in Columbus, OH. Got a good paying job at the American Red Cross Bio medical. Yes, I helped manage blood drives. However, this past March I was part of a work force reduction and was out of a job. I know I have read this story a lot here on the forum and it is all too common. Yet at 50 finding another good paying job is not as easy as it once was and so I have decided to embark on a new adventure. I am lucky that I was able to front the cost of the training but I was prepared if need be to go to a company sponsored program, however, I liked the idea of having a little more freedom to choose my first company. Road Master has a total of 12 core companies as they call them that will front $1500 of the training up front for you if you are able to pay without financing which makes the course much easier to swallow.

At any rate, if all goes well I will be off to my first company soon and will begin to earn some income. How anyone is suppose to live off of unemployment is news to me but then I guess is is suppose to be a help and not make you dependent on it. I look forward to some long days again :-).

The school has suggested to me that I look at Werner and possible run out of the Anheuser Busch account here which would have me home every day and home on weekends. Not sure that is the route to take but it is an option. I have looked for people who work on this account but have not had much luck yet. If anyone here knows about it please chime in and let me know if it might be a good option.

Again, the many posts I have read have been a tremendous help for me so far and I look forward to participating more as I start this new adventure.
