Unfortunately half will probably flunk on the physical or drug test. I bet 25 will finish the class with a cdl. Then the carnage begins...LOL

Yeah 200 people showing up in one week makes me wonder.. I would like to know exaclty how many do actually finish...

The Ups, and Downs, of a Rookie Drivers Pay

So do you have to pay taxes on per diem at the end of the year?

How is it that your net is bigger than your gross?

Either way you are doing a lot better than I did when I first started out.

Probably a copy and paste issue or something. He got it right on 12/30! I had no problem figuring out what he meant.

Finding a job an OTR after and accident

Someone with more experience will definitely respond to your question but figured I'd drop a reply in the mean time. From what I've read on this forum it cannot hurt to apply to OTR companies. Just be 100% honest throughout the interaction. Be upfront about the felony and the accident. I think the fact that your current employer kept you on would go along way to explaining it away. Plus your felony is 10 years old or close to it at this point. Worst thing their gonna say is check back with us or we'll call you. Try looking at the company's website for hiring requirements before you reach out so you have an idea of what their criteria is for hiring. Then you'll be better prepared to answer questions and explain your situation.

Cool, that's what I was hoping you'd say.

Nice break down brother. I like how you condensed your month(s). I would be satisfied with that after my first couple months. Thanks for sharing/posting!

Guys. Seriously, is trucking worth it?

Hi Shilo,

I agree with Mountain Girl. It sounds like LTL (Less than Load/Line haul) would be up your alley. All I know about it is what I've read on this site. 6 String Rhythm is the resident expert in LTL on this site from what I've read so far. (I just nominated him official LTL expert.) You should check out his thread LTL Trucking - My linehaul job for an in-depth look at what it's like. It's a great read!

If you don't have a lot of time, because it's a long thread, check out the LTL Trucking Company List he put together and see if any of those companies have a terminal in your area. If so, hop on the companies website and see if they offer paid training so you don't have to fork out money upfront. You could also just Google LTL companies + your general location to see if any pop up. I had to do that to find one near where I live. The one closest to me is a smaller company that doesn't offer training and requires 1 year of OTR experience. Hope this helps!
