So, legitimately selected by the DOT for random and not by school or schools consortment? And if by DOT really just with habimg gotten my permit.

Can anyone explain to me why i am being randomly selected for a DOT drug screen when i am in truck driving school and only have a cdl a permit currently not operating a rig? New to industry and just making sure it is a legit random not school politics.

Thanks for your responses. No, it doesn't matter your right just annoying when you pay 5 grand to learn and start missing valuable time because of it. And from what I have discussed with instructor the school does add students to the random pool as safety sensitive operators. Was entirely unclear on Reg just making sure I wasn't getting a DOT test when it should have just been just a random not federally because i took the schools DOT required screening the day before.
