Heartburn Remedy for Truck Drivers

How ironic that set of commercials and any others are that sell that kind of stuff for food related heart burn. Just as Farmerbob mentioned, that stuff is actually the opposite of what you want to do. You don't want to lower your acidity but increase it. They (most heartburn Rx) all just prolong the problem after giving only a short term fix and making good money off people in the process.

Loving trucking

Hey Jeremy, congrats on the new trucking career and on landing what appears to be a really good deal for you!

I can't give any feedback on being a driver as I am just a lurker on T.T. I could talk about a motorcycle or plane but sorry, not a CDL class A.

Keep safe, keep proving yourself and keep being an example.

Heartburn Remedy for Truck Drivers

Thanks farmerbob / Dr. Bob. this is quite timely as my daughter has been sufferring from heart burn, and was sick just before as well, to where she has missed the last couple days of work and we were up with her for a while last night. I knew about this kind of treatment for it and how most people think it is exactly the opposite of what you should do but I could not remember the specific reason and now thanks to you I do. May daughter has been downing the Pink stuff the last couple days trying to help.

I can now approach her with this added information that she will listen to. She was going to try and get in to the hospital to see someone about this problem and I hope I am able to get to her first.

Another quick fix if you are on the road and have it but don't have some place near by that sells the apple cider vinegar is a can of soda. Most are accidic but probably your colas are the worst. By the way I remember seeing on the news a couple years ago that they linked one soda per day with a 40% increase in prostate cancer. Keep that in mind gents!

American Truck Simulator

Both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are great and I would probably have as many hours too but I like being married too much! smile.gif

I'm thankful that they added in the time and effect of the landing gear crank being activated during pickup and drop off of a trailer, but I do wish it allowed you to climb out of the truck and walk around it to do your GOAL and activate the landing gear crank. It would be nice to go back and open your doors and actually bump a dock too!

Scenery is really nice in both and sunsets!

Starting a new job

One more thing you might try if you are still concerned is, find a private CDL school with a shifting simulator and see if they will rent time on it. Some of them will. OK, two things, you also might try contacting your new company to see if you would be able to spend a little time with someone else doing some short or local hauls. Good luck good-luck.gif

Great Christmas but now this

C. M. so sorry to hear about your dad as well as your own health lately but I too am glad that you seem to be on the mend. I just prayed for you and your dad and will try and keep you both in my prayers in the future.

For you and all out there I would recommend a very special type of delivery system of vitamin C for when you are not well. It is called liposomic vitamin C. The only place I know where you can buy it is on line through "Liv-On Labs". It is not cheap so I buy it by the case which helps. I have shared it with a number of friends over the last couple years and nearly everyone is impressed with it. By being liposomic (fat encapsulated) it actually survives the digestive process and actually gets into the blood stream and into the cells where you need it. Typical vitamin C you buy in a bottle at the drug store or Walmart don't have nearly the same benefit as the majority (80% +/-) of the vitamin C gets flushed out of your system. It is however a good way to clean out your insides if you take a good amount but you wouldn't want to do that while on the road if you know what I mean.

If you are trying to use orange juice for your vitamin C, you can increase the benefit by drinking that with the most pulp you can get and never the kind without pulp. The pulp aids in the same digestion process so a little more gets through. There are a number of fruits and vegetables that are good sources of vitamin C, strawberries being one. Do not cook your food and expect to get the same benefit. Eat it raw whenever possible.

One big thing to stay away from with any and every illness imaginable is sugar, with one exception and that is diabetes and of course only to regulate your levels.

Wishing and praying for you and your dad!

Broke down in Waterville ME

Sorry to hear you're broke down. At least it wasn't on Saturday in all the snow. I am glad to hear of someone in this forum driving up here in New England though. Not that it makes you feel any better. Next time break down in Lebanon NH area and I will buy you lunch or dinner!

I hope they get you fixed and on the road again very soon!

How do YOU deal with time zone changes?

This is one reason why I love this forum and all of you folks who contribute. It is full of different but helpful people, ideas, technology and humor. Put me in the same older class with the likes of Old School if you want but at the very least, having the atlas on board would be a must for me and then all of the others after that. I had similar training and FAA testing as well when I went for my pilot's license. You are tested on good old map reading and math calculations and even when flying, can only use a portable GPS as a back up. Maps are issued every 6 mos. and you MUST have a current one in your plane.

On another note, I hope that none of you on this forum were involved in any of the truck accidents shown on the news of this week.

Keep smiling, keep helping one another and God Bless you all!

How do YOU deal with time zone changes?

I have been getting soooo much good information from T.T. and all you truckers but one thing I have been wondering and not reading here is how you factor in the time zone changes. Does your dispatcher help do that, are you solely responsible, is it a function of your GPS or Qualcomm, how do you do it? Come to think of it, I have never driven across a time zone border. Are there signs telling you of that on interstates or some place?

Thanks everyone and a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you as well!thank-you.gif
