Reformed Squid's Bio

I am a veteran, certified Fire Fighter and EMT. I come from a family of Vets and Truckers in that order. I did get my CDL in the military and missed the transfer deadline Texas offers by 6 days. I work for McElroy and love it there so far

Welcome aboard, if you have any questions feel free to ask I am one of the trainers/ mentors and I will do my best to answer them.

Hey there everybody. Just wanted to add my 2cents about McElroy if I can. I am in Emporia VA now and just finished my first day of Orientation. So far all I can say is its very laud back and easy going. Brent is a great guy and who you will meet first in this location. Rooms at the best Western are really nice compared to alot I've been in and very clean for the most part. Microwave and Fridge. TV with cable. Continental breakfast in the morning. There is a fair amount of paper work to begin with and even some homework lol. Class is very small. Only 2 here today and that's including myself LOL. But I'm not complaining because I'm sure we will get lots of hands on and one on one training. If I can be any assistance to anyone looking at McElroy I'll try and answer questions also. Yall have a good night ! Got to be there at 7 in the morning.

Hey right lane weekly mileage average is yes. Lol, you will run every week I have had some weeks where I only ran 1400, & I have had a couple above 2500. 2700 is my best week. To be completely honest with you 1900-2200 is the best I van offer. To add you spouse depends on the package but $75 a week is bout right. Don't need steel toe boots there is not a place for a fridge but some of us have the coolerators and they work fine. We don't have inventors so everything is 12V. But there are plenty of those plugs in these trucks. There is a referral bonus don't know what it is or how long you have to be with the company to get it. And we get raises annually with max out at 49 or 48 cpm.

Cali is not in the recruiting area. There has been talk of expanding further west, nothing solid has been put out there though.

Greeting all, new to the site here. Have read through the entire post here. Lots of good info. Will be finishing up CDL school next week but due to the holidays cannot test till 5 January. Have an app in with McElroy, Kasey is the recruiter I have been talking with. Today we had a McElroy recruiter stop by, lots of benefits that make me want to take a closer look with them. The home weekends, being able to park at Lowes, $250/month tuition reimbursement, 46 cents/mile starting out, free driver healthcare, 65% pre tarped loads! Have an invite for orientation with Maverick but am going to have a hard time deciding as I really like what I have read here and heard by talking with the recruiters. Thanks to everyone for posting your experience about McElroy.

Hey Stella welcome aboard. This is a great site you will get no b.s. answers and get some aquick replies. You should do fine on your test, bc that day in history 32 years ago a great man was born.... Me lol. Anyhow I am a driver mentor/trainer with McElroy ask anything you want and I will answer honestly good bad and the ugly.

I should be making my way north this week or so I was told. I should have a trainee next week which means he should finish as you are ready for one. I'm looking forward to running up there.
