Why get an endorsement you don't want?

Thanks guys, because what I was thinking was if your employer saw you had the endorsement, and since you did, they might say, okay were gonna make you use it just because you have it and we are telling you to. That's what I don't want to get into with an employer. Of course,I'm so new at this,I don't know if they give truckers a choice or not.

How to be paid

So percentage pays more than by the mile? Is percentage the max you can make?

Why get an endorsement you don't want?

If you don't wanna drive doubles and triples, why should you get the endorsement? Especially when you are a new driver, just out of CDL school. It's tough enough just learning how to safely drive a tractor-trailer,so why would I want to drive one with two extra trailers on it? Are you crazy? Does any one understand that doubles and triples can be more dangerous and risky to operate? Well, some of us just don't want that kind of extra risk and responsibility,I don't care if they paid me a million dollars to haul six trailers,ONE is enough for me! Especially being a newbie.Yet you guys are saying,oh,you better get ALL THE ENDORSEMENTS.....but no thanks,I just aint ready for it yet.Besides it's just too risky.I'll be happy to let SOMEONE with more experience handle that endorsement! Yeah,I read my state's CDL manual [Florida] and what it said about doubles and triples did not motivate me to go get the endorsement! As a matter of fact, that darn book scared the crap out of me! You really think I wanna increase my chances of rolling over on a curve? No way! Ha!

Do trucking companies mean what they say?

Do trucking companies mean what they say when they say No NYC and No Canada? Are they honest about training pay? What is forced dispatch? The dispatch guy is your boss?? Well,I can do dispatch too,ya know!

CDL Student needs advice

Hey there, well I'm in CDL Class A school, and man,I am lovin it! I'm motivated, excited, sometimes anxious, but mostly thrilled to be learning how to drive a tractor-trailor! I'm actually beginning to get a feel for this big thing and wow! The only thing is,my instructor keeps putting me in a 35 year old dinosaur cabover,he said cause I'm so big and tall, well,I guess I need to be able to drive any truck, new or old, huh? I wonder,do any of these trucking companies keep old jalopy trucks on their fleet? I hope not. Anyways,I have two years experience for driving a school bus in Virginia, and three years experience driving a straight truck for a wholesale hardware company that has since gone out of business.I used to have a route going to Virginia/North Carolina every week and driving that truck was the job I liked best, out of all the gazillion jobs I've had since age 18,I loved that truck job the best! I just wonder, how do the trucking companies try to rip off student drivers? My CDL school is a public college and I'm blessed to going for free! In my personal life,I have a strict no debt policy, and i wont let these companies sell me into a ton a debt. But I wonder,my training doesn't end after I graduate CDL School? Why? And tell me,is 13 cents a mile for training typical or a rip off? Some companies say $400 or $350 a week for training, and others are saying 13 cents a mile? Why do the truck companies like to pay you in PENNIES??? Why are'nt they saying, like,a dollar a mile? Ha! Can ya tell I'm a green horn? But really now....PENNIES per mile? Why not QUARTERS per mile? Thanks for your help.Yahoo! I'm a gonna drive a big truck! ha! ha!
