Roehl, Prime, Schneider,Werner-----Where to go???
Pick/Grin passes it on:
I've heard a lot of bad things about Werner and Schneider though, seems like they're the butt of many a joke...
Don't forget the bad things written (posted elsewhere) about Swift. And CRST, and C R England. Oh yes, also the junk about CRETE, US-X and Rhoel. Can these writers back up all the claims? Or did they simply read stuff on another post and want to believe it?
My point is there are 10 posts griping & whining about any given company, compared to one by a driver boasting about the great company he works for.
Errol, You make some very good points. I have a friend who leases with Schneider and basically has nothing but good things to say about them. He wanted me to reach out to other truck drivers to get their input as well. However, coming from 20+ years in retail I know that people only tend to mention the "bad" in companies and don't take time to say the good stuff. I made a bunch of phone calls todat and found that more then half my list has automatic trucks. Thanks again Errol!!

Roehl, Prime, Schneider,Werner-----Where to go???
Tyson runs automatics, you might look at them. I believe they do regional as well, and they have locations all over. Not sure if they hire straight out of school or not, but can't hurt to ask.
Thanks Matt, I will look into them.

Roehl, Prime, Schneider,Werner-----Where to go???
So I want to start deciding which company I should go to, to begin my employment with. I will graduate with my CDL soon and I've done a lot of research and I still can't decide. I was hoping you guys might help weigh in. I am looking for the following: 1. Regional run 2. Decent home time 3. An automatic transmission Ability to bring spouse, child, or animal- (my dog) 4.Strong miles
The companies in the heading are my front runners but I can't decide, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also I want to thank all of you and Brett for this site. I obtained my CDL permit recently and I am so glad I was able to practice on this site.

So, if you go to work for a company that tells you that you have to take your truck home, where do you park it? I don't have room at my home and there is no local hub in my area for this company. Suggestions? How do you go about finding a place to park?

Roehl Transportation: Pro's Vs. Cons
Gary I don't have a start date yet but, I expect sometime early in August. I will be in the van division as a regional driver. Good luck. I like what I have heard and the people I have spoken to so far as well.

I had a similar issue with a company, actually 2 of them. So I went in another direction and company all together. Roehl is where I'm going and they have been great so far and very prompt in returning my calls and emails.

Does the CDL Training here in Trucking Truth cover all the same material in NY State?
Thank you Old School. I compared it a little to the NY State book and didn't find any differences but wanted to be sure.

Heavy C, thanks for the advice. I understand what you mean about the negative comments vs. people commenting on the good. I have been doing a lot of homework on various companies postings online for jobs and I am matching that against my "wants list" in an employer. I just thought some personal insight from people who like there company might be beneficial. I'm excited about getting started and I really appreciate the feedback I'm getting from you folks. Thanks again!

I'd also like some advice on good sites to read company reviews. I want to drive OTR but, who are some of the best companies to at least start with? I hear good stuff about Roel and Schneider but some advice would be great!

I wanted to say thank you as well to all you guys out there sharing your work history with us. I am presently looking to go to a local CDL school and get my Class A. I would really like an opportunity to ride with someone for a week and get a better idea of what life out there is like. I don't know anyone who drives so I have know one to ask. Does anyone know someone in the Buffalo NY area that would be willing to let me tag along with them for a week? Thanks!!!
