I did tractor service for a company in BC. I hauled a trailer from BC to Alberta. Upon arriving at the warehouse in Alberta for a delivery i had noticed that some of the cargo had fallen in the reefer. The trucking company i am sub contracted under say the damage was worth 7000$ and they will be deducting it from my paycheck. When i suggested we go through cargo insurance, the company explained they didn't want their insurance rate to go up. I am wondering, by law, is a trucking company required to file a cargo claim if there is damage done to the goods?
