Schneider Training 03/16

Jetguy, thanks for the posting. I'll be following this also. Good luck to you brother.

Code red, no matter what. You still need to learn the basics of shifting. I'm sure you already know this. The simulator helps you in various weathers and hills. WITHOUT a real crash. lol Plus, your truck may break down and you may get a stick until then. Now you're stuck unless you know how to shift correctly. I myself have driven a few auto's in school and fell in love right away. But I still have the basics of double shifting under my belt. Hopefully Jetguy can answer your question better.

Maverick Transportation

Tyler, I remember in a previous thread you had mentioned in a reply to someone. "If all goes well for me at orientation and the company offers me a position, I will be hauling dedicated out of PA. For me I was told it will be a 500-600 mile radius of Carlisle including possibly to Canada". Can you elaborate a little more on this please. Is this for Maverick and do they have a yard in Carlisle Pa? I didn't see anything online for them in the Pa area as far as yards go. Only for hiring locations. Unless they are one in the same?

Schneider - Northeast Lightweight solutions

As far as I know that isn't a dedicated account. I was told that "northeast region" meant as far west as Ohio and as far south as Washington dc, but I'm guessing that where you actually end up going depends somewhat on where you live and if you're home every week or OTR. "Lightweight Solutions" means you get a stripped down truck that weighs less so you can pull heavier loads (for example bottle water, I guess so they can put a few extra cases in there). The one I've seen has a shorter cab with only a bunk in the back, and no passenger seat. It also has super singles and is missing some of the bells and whistles that the other trucks have. On the plus side, I'm told there is a demand for drivers so he would probably get good miles.

So I figured I would come back and update this so there is more information on this in case others want to know also.

Kurt G is pretty much spot on. This run is hauling beverages, all in the North East. ME, CT, MA, PA, NJ, NY (no inner city) super singles, no passenger seat. Basically a stripped down light weight truck in order to carry more cargo. I believe my cousin said .36 cpm (quote for inexperienced drivers) $35 stop off pay- along with with two other things I can't think of right now. All drop and hook. No hand deliveries. If I can think of anything else I'll post it up.

Roehl Company-Sponsored Program - Day to Day

double-quotes-start.png

Razor or Thomas, what is the length of orientation time? From the time get there till out on the road with a trainer, till you get your own truck? Thank you

double-quotes-end.png

You are in the school for 4 weeks, although our instructors told us that 4 of us are advancing so fast we may be able to test out the 3rd week and not have to stay a 4th week. Then it's home for a couple days and out with a trainer. They say the average time is 15 days with a trainer (not team driving). Then you get your truck and they route you home for a couple days and out on your own

Thank you for the info brother. Last question if I may. Does Roehl have a large percentage of automatics there?

Never heard of it. I'm assuming he already called Schneider themselves and asked them, but wants opinions from other drivers?

Yeah, I am not sure how far he got. It was a question passed on to me. So i figured I would ask here. Hopefully he called and got his info because I couldn't find anything online for him. It's 2016, he needs to learn how to operate a damn PC. LOL

Does anyone know? Backing related

I'm in philly and my test consisted of straight line backing, off-set park to the left, and 90degree backing. Not sure what they will teach and test you on.
