CRST Expedited Trucking School and training program Cedar Rapids, IA. A (re) training diary by millionmiler24

06/14/2017:

I woke up this morning, had breakfast, a quick review of the High Road Training Program and then went to the permit class. My test time was set for after lunch (13:00). When I got into class, since there was no WiFi, I had to use the practice tests they gave me yesterday to study while I was waiting to test. DOT came to the school to test us. We didn't have to go to the DOT office. That was really nice of them. Also yesterday, Brett, you will be happy about this: I referred some more drivers to truckingtruth and the High Road Training Program and proved to them that this site is by far the BEST way to study for your tests. I am just like yall. I want everyone in this business to succeed and since it is my mission in life is helping others, I thought if I refer drivers to this site, it would help them. Anyway I took my tests and scored:

General Knowledge: 46/50 92% Combination Vehicles: 18/20 90% Air Brakes: 25/25 100%

Yes, I got a PERFECT score on Air Brakes. I was surprised when I saw that! As I have stated before: Brett, thanks so much for starting up this site. Also thanks to the other moderators for yalls advice and also in helping Brett keep and maintain this site. I LOVE that High Road Training Program. It is truly a GODSEND for everyone. It is truly the BEST way to study for your permit exams. I was able to score 90% or better on ALL my permit tests on the FIRST attempt. After the testing, I boarded the shuttle to Iowa DOT here in Cedar Rapids and I obtained my permit. When I got back, I had the permit instructor note my new permit in my file. After that, I showed my friends here my new permit and let my best friend in Florida know I got my permit and she was so happy. If it wasnt for her and 2 churches down there plus yall here on TruckingTruth, I wouldn't be able to do this. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!! My gosh I am turning into Rick here. I can't help it. I LOVE THIS! Anyway after dinner, I went to the room for some much needed rest.

As yall can see. I am GOING BANANAS!!!!! Wait.......I AM ALREADY BANANAS!!!! ROFLMAO!!!

Congrats on the permit!!

I got mine yesterday, I have a birth certificate issue. Had to get my NC CDL permit before going to class in Miami, Florida. Flying down thursday to goto class. Then I have to come back to NC to transfer my cdl to NC. Then off to Schneider tanker school.

Accepted into Schneider going for bulk goods transport

So today, has been an awesome day.. I used the The High Road Online CDL Training Program, had no class time.. This was my only way to study since I would have to wait up to a month to get my birth certificate from Los Angeles county. I passed my DOT medical yesterday and today passed all 3 tests first try. I really rolled right through all them tests, already knew the answer. Thanks for having that program available.

Just got my CDL permit.. Thanks to the highroad training program or I wouldn't have made it.. Gonna keep going through it now that I have my permit and so forth. Thanks to Brett and all who made the training program. I didn't get to have "class time" to get extra training before I took my CDL permit, just trucking truth's highroad.

Accepted into CRST

Class begins on Monday, June 12th.

I am going this route, because they offer veterans pretty much free schooling. They are giving me bonuses. I tried to go with Schneider even with the vet program I was going to be down in Miami. I would have to pay for all my meals.

Going CRST Expedited. Which is a Team thing. I have to find a team mate, hopefully I can find one that isn't homesick and wants to drive.

This is what I got in under, not sure if it's all true but we will find out.. Worst case scenario is that my CDL is payed for by my GI bill and I am not held under a contract.

Rented a car so I wouldn't have to endure the bus ride.. :)

Are you going through orientation or through the school again? I wonder if I met you yet. I got here on the 11th and started permit class on the 12th. If you are here now. I would love to meet ya.

I asked for a delay of 2 weeks, mother in the hospital.. I am also accepted in a troops to transport program for Schneider. School for that starts next week in Miami, probably gonna go with that. From what I heard Schneider has a good tanker bulk products program.

So I have to get my cdl permit before class...

Shannon, you could have used our High Road Training Program. It's far easier to use than your method and far more effective.

For anyone preparing to take your written CDL permit exams, our High Road Training Program is awesome. It has the actual CDL manual built right in, and breaks it down into tiny chunks with multiple choice questions at the end of each one.

As you work your way through the program our system will keep track of your scores and it will help you review the questions you're missing, or the questions you haven't seen more than once. So you'll get new questions with each new page, but you'll also get some review questions mixed in from previous pages. Review the questions you've missed and seeing each question more than once really helps you learn by reinforcing the materials.

This is the most important part for people to understand. Do not use practice tests to learn the materials. Use the High Road Training Program to learn the materials, and then you can use practice tests if you'd like to just run through a few questions when you have a little free time here and there.

Tons of people try to prepare for the tests by memorizing practice questions. That's not the way to go. You're not actually learning the materials in the CDL manual properly, and you're not going to retain the information that way.

Best of luck!

I've been using the High Road training program.. so far I am 95% on combination and air brakes.. I misread some questions on general knowledge and got a 78, gonna retrain today on them.. these are just practice test scores.

I need General knowledge, air brakes, and combination. I am doing the high road study guide, since there isn't a general section I assume all the questions for general knowledge is the ones with (permit)?

Way to go James H! You are in for the time of your life. I just finished training with Swift Transportation and each day was a blast. I learned a lot and made a whole bunch of new friends. The instructors were terrific. I am sure you will do the same if you keep a positive attitude and give it your all.

Thanks for your service to the greatest country, the U.S.A. We hope you will write about your experience so we can follow along and cheer for you.

-Traffic Jam

I'm actually going through a different program, training starts next week. Troops to Transport. Trying to avoid any contracts, because CRST is the expedited way, and I am not going in with a partner. Can I trust them to drive while I am asleep and are they clean? LOL

So I will be graduating July 14th from the school in Miami.
