Suggestion on choosing a company that supports Veterans
I do know that Prime hires from FL. They have a really good benefits package and I know for sure they like veterans (I did my training through Prime).
I am retired USN, I know lots of either veterans or military retirees at Prime.

I'm new to this sight and i have learn a bunch, thanks for the great info you folks are putting out their. so I'm a week away from completing CDL school in Miami, passed my pre trip now the rest next wk. I'm thinking of going with Werner because they offer tuition reimbursement and have the apprenticeship program thru the VA. They offer 30CPM to start after 275hr of driving with trainer.I haven't found another company that has those benies and is paying more than 30cpm. ill take any advise i can get. I know that i have to pay my dues, but if i have choices why not look.
Thanks George

Best trucking company for Military Vets starting a new Career. or best recommendation.
I retired last Sept with 22yrs. I'm on my final week of CDL school. Sat i tested for my Pre Trip and passed Wednesday i take my last two skills and the drive. I live in South FL so I'm leaning towards Werner. They seem to have the best benefits for Vets . Please feel free to enlightening me on any other companies. Werner is offering 37CPM to start. The only Exp i had was for one full tour (4yrs) they sent me to get my Military CDL, it was a collateral duty. to be able to flat bed a helicopter home when a pilot jacked it up.
Thanks

Got this off of Averitt's page... "Did you know that if you are or were employed within the past year (12 months) in a military position requiring the operation of a military motor vehicle equivalent to a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), you are eligible for a waiver to apply for a CDL without skills testing? "
Yes their are a few guys in my class that fall into this cat, they have already been hired by a carrier. the carrier sent them to the school as a civilian refresher. its a great deal for a lot of guys. i never converted mine so it expired 6 years ago.

Thanks Guy. I'm not to worried about finding a company out of FL, more focused on the pay and being able to bring my truck home when i have my home time. I'm retired so the medical benefits aren't a big deal for me.
