Double clutching is hard :(

What gear are you in when you start? If you're in 2nd or 3rd on level ground, that truck is gonna go. Unless you're dumping the clutch or still have the brakes applied, even though you may think you don't.

They require us to start on 3rd. I have been researching it and i think i figured it. I think i am releasing to much clutch before releasing the break. Essentially what I'm doing is that I'm releasing the clutch too much and let the truck have too much torque before releasing the brake. I think what I need to do is when I pull back on the clutch and start filling the torque I need to push the clutch back just a little to calm the truck and then release the brake and slowly release the clutch.

Double clutching is hard :(

Well I did better today. Only missed a few gears I'm still getting used to downshifting. The major problem I'm having right now is that I keep stalling the truck at the start. They trained us to keep the brakes on and then release enough of the clutch to fill the torque. When I release the brake and then released the clutch the truck stalls. The instructor keeps telling me that I'm keeping my foot on the brake and then releasing the clutch butt I know that my foot is not on the brake when I release the clutch. It's so frustrating LOL. But after thinking about it and doing a little research I think I might be dumping the clutch causing the truck to stall? I don't know hopefully I'll figure it out :\

Double clutching is hard :(

First day behind the wheel and the instructor had us going around Industrial Park learning to shift. It's a lot harder than it looks lol. I have never shifted a car in my life so I think it's a little harder for me. The problem I'm running into is remembering the shift pattern. Is it normal for someone to have a pretty hard time figuring this stuff out? I really didn't expect to be this bad LOL :-(

Tanker truck falls through parking garage roof.

The news site also says the truck was there specifically to pump out the water from flooding in the underground garage. It's not like he was just roaming around in places where he shouldn't have been.

So it would appear there were probably several levels of people who have some responsibility for this: the contractor, the city, etc.

But ultimately, it's the driver who will most likely bear the full burden.

Precisely, the more experienced drivers at my company do the pump jobs. I know how but I do not qualify seniority wise yet. They'll send you anywhere they're called.

Look I understand what you're saying but if a sign states that the weight limit is 4400 pounds and your vehicle ways 16000 pounds plus then it's not a smart idea to go driving there even if your company told you to do it. I don't think you need to be an experienced driver to know this. Because it's not the company is going to take the fall is going to be you literally and figuratively.

I think you folks are jumping to conclusions far too quickly. I'm a local tanker driver and you wouldn't believe some of the places I go to and drive through. Everyday I'm on truck restricted roads, in the middle of downtown, on roads that are labeled 5 ton maximum weight capacity. Places a truck realistically shouldn't even be near. Not only that, but I'm never below 79,950lb, and I've gone as far as 84,000lb gross.

Now I've never been to a parking garage but I don't doubt that day will come. This is far from OTR.

I understand what you're saying but according to the news site there's a sign near the truck saying the weight rating for the garage is 4400 pounds. It is supposedly very visible.

Looks like we had a truck or here make a boo-boo and didn't read the signs showing the weight limit of the garage. I wonder how much trouble he's going to be in.

Anxiety/panic attacks

Now I have no experience as a truck driver as of yet but I might I have a Band-Aid fix for this. I am a gamer and I have a few set friends that I play with constantly online. There are games such as World of Warcraft on PC and Destiny on consoles that you can play with a whole lot of different people. We use a program called Discord for voice chat as well. Some people find it odd that you can make lifelong friends in these Virtual Worlds but these are new times. MMORPGs are like social media on steroids it could be great for social interaction.
