4 years in, and I love my job!!!

Glad to hear something positive. All I hear is bad news and how trucking is terrible from other truckers I meet in person. I don't think it's all that bad. I also meet very upbeat truckers that make me smile. They make me excited about trucking.

Trucker specific Financial APPs

I was thinking about using QuickBooks because a friend of mine has a relative that does bookkeeping for owner/operators. Her boss is a CPA to do the accounting. I would suggest the best app is hiring a local CPA firm to do the bookkeeping and accounting. One of my best motivators for me to become a owner/operator is to be able to open my own business and getting to do my own books. I studied accounting and took many accounting classes before switching to finance. The "app" I'm going to use in the future is far to rigorous in accounting concepts.

Are Emotional Support Dogs Allowed In Trucking?

That's just my truckin' life. Swift doesn't allow a dog in a truck? I thought I had to pay a deposit or something. Aww man, I was planning it. It's going to be me, my truck and dog on the road together. I guess I need to be an Owner/Operator. That's going to a lonely drive. I'm already alone that's how I roll. This is a major disappointment. Well I guess I saved a $1000 pet fee from a breeder, I could use for a down payment for a house or a Freighter Cascadia. I actually might spend that money on gaming laptop and use that during my 10 hour break to relax. I highly support a Emotion Suppor tDog. I'm depress that's why I left college to take a break from it all. But a big rig and haulin' American Freight makes me happy. And I like doing paperwork that's my job in the Army. I think it's funny that someone said, "Well, there goes 80% of the workforce, depress, have PTSD from being a veteran." Sad truth. I don't need a whole of human interaction, just a dog.

Terminated

Don't feel bad for being fired like that. I was shocked on what your dispatcher said, "I will get schedule you off each time it snows or rains" I'm preparing for trucking school so I read books on safe driving. It's not the snow or rain that gets you trouble, it's a combination of things. The combination of snow, ice, mountains is a significant hazard. Someone in my hometown just died just driving his truck on I-469 where I lived nearby. It was just flat land on dry conditions eight days ago.

I starting to think on how reckless companies are with driving. I have been working at a car rental company and drove their cars across Northern Indiana for 9 months now. There's a lot of experience drivers that drive over the speed limit, impatience issues and take unnecessary risk. So I'm starting to feel "follow me, Jordan" is unnecessary risk. I follow because I'm unsure of how to get there. They are terrible to follow. Driving 85 mph with varying speeds, very quick on the gas and brakes when it's unnecessary, running stale yellow lights, and changing lanes back and forth. So don't feel bad for not following. I heard other stories where the termination was justified. It wasn't justified that you got fired. I meant what company sends out a dangerous route for a fresh truck driver. I don't mind having a dangerous job like driving because I do it in a safe way.

Staying at a hotel

I was also consider doing that as well. I'm trying to stay healthy by getting exercise at hotels with gym. However I probably just walk for 15 minutes every other day, and then jog at a truck stop for 15 minutes that have shower. I will do whatever makes your cabin more comfortable, like bringing a mattress from home that can fit in the back of the cab so you can get better sleep. Not a cheap mattress, but something really nice and comfortable.

I understand where you're coming from. Hotel beds have the best beds. I won't make a habit of it, perhaps do it once a week just because it's expensive. In Indiana, some places charge only $33 a night.
