After working for 7 years in the restaurant industry, and 4 in the automotive/factory world and finding myself laid off 3 weeks before Christmas, I decided it was time for a change in my life. After seeing an ad in the local paper for a CDL course, I decided to take a chance on becoming a truck driver. My first two weeks I was constantly telling my hubby that there was no way I could do this, but after the 3rd week I am SOOO glad I didn't quit!

I’m looking at the same light as we speak. I also get a warn engine light occasionally to go along with it. They always go out eventually.
I’ve put it in the shop twice now for it and the conclusion we keep coming to is it’s a computer glitch. I’ve also never been asked to do a manual regen.

Who's Making it Home for Thanksgiving?
We got home Monday afternoon and will be home until next Wednesday. I took my paid vacation time so we good enjoy some serious time off. We have friends here and I’m getting ready to get up and start cooking, or at least get eggs boiling while the parade is on!
We’ve got plans to do all kinds of stuff while we’re home, like go to some places we’ve always to but never had the time.

You wouldn’t happen to be in Stafford MO? I pulled up the WiFi list on my laptop and low and behold “Errol iPhone” popped up!
Just wondering, you’re the only Errol I’ve ever known.

Seeking seasoned driver advice
I have a good friend who just made the switch from TMC to Keim and seems extremely happy with them.
Check out his YouTube channel and get his opinions on Keim and making the switch: White Lightning Trucker
Although based on what he’s saying on Facebook and such, he’s doing much better financially at Keim. He switched with 9 months experience at TMC.

We Want Videos For Our YouTube Channel!
I forgot to answer this question.
I only follow a few YouTube folks on a regular basis:
Palerider TV (a fellow CalArk/Central driver)
White Lightin Trucker
Ellie O'Daire
I really try to stay out of the drama and politics that surround a lot of the channels. I'm there to share the adventure and do a little teaching along the way.

Also, I'd be more than willing to be a regular contributor. Give me a topic or an idea and I can run with it.
Plus I can do all my own editing and save you some time and headache!

We Want Videos For Our YouTube Channel!
Feel free to use any of mine!
I can email you the files to some of them if you'd rather do that.
I wish I still had the file for the Trainee Tips video. That would be perfect.
But I still have the file for the Trucking Tools video which would be a good one.
Let me know.

I love my Rand McNally 100. Love's has them for $100.
It records excellent footage, good enough for YouTube. 1080p HD which is great for videos but you can turn the resolution down as well.
I would definitely recommend investing in at least one larger SD card if you are wanting to save footage. The 4G card it comes with is fine for loop recording with the impact sensor turned on if you're using it only as a traditional dash cam. I have 2 32g cards that I swap out daily. It's super easy to pull footage onto a laptop via either th card itself if you have a slot or it comes with a USB cord you can use.
I can't really help with the driver facing part, sorry.

Those of you who cook in the truck--how do you find the time?
I ADORE the lunchbox cooker I bought recently. It would be perfect for you since you're home every weekend. Make up enough foil pans of food on the weekends to last through the week, cover with foil, and pop in your fridge. About an hour or two before stopping for the day, pop one in the cooker and dinner is waiting when you're parked! Casseroles work really well for this. I have a few lunchbox cooker videos up on my YouTube channel if you want to see some stuff you can make.
Foil pans, paper plates and plastic utensils make clean up super easy.
And yes, you should join BTC on Facebook. Tons of great ideas and nice people. I'm a member as well.

Hey!
They most likely won't give you a choice and put you out of Olathe unless you live in or near Texas.
Rockwell has a secondary fleet of white trucks that only run Texas.
I drove for them for 6 months and only went to Rockwall twice, once being for hometime in Dallas.
And honestly you'll do better out of Olathe. It's a much much larger terminal and all the major offices are there.

Assigned a Job While on Home Time
If I'm at home, I don't even pick up the phone if dispatch calls unless it's the day before I'm to come back out. My DM usually calls the day before to see if I'm still good to go at my scheduled time or not. I've come back out a few hours early. It's usually because that's the only load they have in my area which is ok. I know I live in a low freight area.

Memphis is just a BLAST when it rains! Especially on 40 with all those sharp curves and crazy 4-wheelers.

When were you in Memphis? It wasn't raining when we went through this morning.
Sorry, off topic. Just curious!

What a day. #TruckThat
I hit that mess on I-20 yesterday. Luckily we rolled through in the morning before it got really bad. But I averaged about 50 mph from the Alabama line to Birmingham. The roads were still clear but it was snowing like crazy. DEFINITELY not where I expected to encounter my first snow of the season.
And Brett, TruckThat is actually a group of people on Twitter and truckthat.com giving Truckers a place to vent. It’s a cool group of people and I actually have one of their magnets in my drivers door!
