Can Stevens Transport stop someone from getting a CDL
So my friend and I failed our road tests and were kicked out from Stevens Driving academy (I believe from a severe lack of seat time) and they told us that we wouldn't have to pay for the school, but would have to pay for the hotel and the money they gave us weekly...total of around $600.
We are both now training for PAM, but my friend just got a call from Stevens wanting money for what he owes. He told them that he isn't working right now and is willing to pay, but couldn't right now.
They told him that if he didn't make at least a $100 payment today they would call the Texas DPS and keep him from getting his CDL.
I know that if you owe the state in some fashion they could mess with your license, but does a private company have this ability?
I haven't received a call yet, but with me training with this new company that worries me.
HELP! 😕

Starting my career soon with Stevens Transport March 2016
Headed back to the DFW area to start training...(again)... I'm not deterred, I want to go trucking. I'm going to look at my failure as a blessing, while Stevens is a good company, I would be paying them back $4000 for training. The training through PAM is free as long as you stay 1 year. Also they come to Laredo, TX often which is good because that is close to home. I am a big believer in "things happen for a reason" so off we go!!

PAM IT IS! I decided to go work for PAM and I start training (all over again) in a week or so. I got some experience with Stevens, but limited seat time cost me. Hopefully I can polish my skills with Pam and get my career started

If you don't mind me asking, what happened that failed you the third time? Are you struggling with one particular thing?
I had a sharp left turn that was coming off an overpass. The road veered to the right, and then sharply to the left, about a 110 degree turn. My right front steer tire went off into the dirt

3 failed DPS road tests, now what?!
It's been a bad 3 days for me, as I alluded to in my other post I'm out at Stevens. 3 tests in 3 days failed. So does anyone know if I can re-test in the state of Texas right away, or do I have to wait? I know I'll have to do my written tests again, but can I get back at it or do I have to wait?
This sucks!!!!!

Well Stevens gave me the boot, not sure why others are granted chances, but once guy took out someone's mail box...and they are letting him stay. I guess this company wasn't in the cards for me. I'm not going to sit here and make a bunch of excuses, I think for not having any experience, and maybe 6 total hours real world seat time, I was doin ok. Need to find a new company now 😔

Now, they called me...it's not my license, it's my DAC report, a complaint for an unpaid debt.
Apparently they said that after 10 days if you don't pay Stevens they refer to a collection agency. The agency files the complaint
