Prime Inc PSD and TNT training program

Yay so it is finally official I am no longer in training. I completed the Flatbed Securement class today which was the final step of my upgrade process here at Prime. It has been quite the journey and I am excited and nervous at the same time about finally going out on my own in this great big world but like my trainer said its time to take off the leash and do my own thing and make my own money. Haha.. We did the 3 hour securement class today for the upgrades that chose the flatbed division there were only 4 of us today. I must say I learned a lot in the class and I think it is very helpful and amazing that Prime does this after training because there are a lot of different loads you wont see during training. I mean our training seems so long but in the scheme of things 30,000 miles isn't that long of a time. They also give us a booklet showing how to secure most everything that we carry in this division which I thought was amazing. That was one of my fears pulling up to a shipper and picking up something I have never even seen how to do before so this will be a huge help for me.

After the class we were sent over to get our truck assigned. All 4 of us are going company right now so there is a short wait for the truck. The lady there said by tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest we should have a truck available for us. So far this has all been a good overall experience and a good choice coming to Prime. I will do another update or 1 before my first solo load. This is all I have for today.

Looking forward to reading about your new solo adventure and to hear about the truck you're assigned. Congrats driver!

Failed drug test from former employer

Here's my situation. I've never been a truck driver and never had a CDL. About 18 months ago I applied for a position for a large health care company that used HireRight for their background check and drug test. This was for an office position that required no driving of any kind. I tested positive for marijuana during the pre-employment screening and the job offer was rescinded. I admittedly had a problem with marijuana and haven't touched it since 3 months before that drug test but because I'm a big guy with a metabolism slower than most whales, a trace amount was detected. So here's what I'm going to find out when I contact HireRight tomorrow because I'm seriously wanting to become a truck driver like my dad was for 30+ years. I'm going to find out if HireRight would disclose that failed drug test result to a trucking company that asked about it. I'm thinking the answer is going to be yes which will of course shatter any and all hopes of becoming a truck driver, but I'll let you all know what I find out.

Annee, this is the last sentence from your last post, "I promise you no one can see your private information unless you give them permission to look." My question would be, when the trucking company hands you the background release form for past drug tests (and every last trucking company will) and you refuse to sign, what do you think the next words out of their mouth will be?
