thanks for the adviceI would check with the companies that you are interested in working for and talk to them to see where they specifically stand on the issue. They may just want you to go through orientation and spend some time with a driver for X number of miles to show them you are ready to drive again. You just would not have to do the part that leads up to taking the CDL exam. Here at Prime that is a separate phase and then once the license is secured the student goes out with a licensed driver/trainer until they reach 30000 miles. Then they get upgraded to their own truck. It would be my guess that you would do that, or some part of that to their satisfaction. Since you are licensed and driving as part of team during that time, you do get paid so it's not wasted, unpaid time. It's just to get you up to speed for going solo. Good luck.

Just Changed My Profile From Rookie to Experienced Driver
Just finished my first year as an OTR driver on Feb. 18th and figured it would be okay to update my profile as no longer a Rookie driver. Is this presumptuous on my part or not? What do you think? The Rookie designation is usually applied to one's first year in any new endeavor, so I assume that's the way it's used in trucking too. This is not by any means to say that there is nothing more for me to learn. To the contrary, I am learning something new or different every time I go out on another run. But, there is also a prevailing requirement among most "non-training" companies for a driver to have a minimum of two years OTR before they will consider hiring you. At any rate, I thought this might be an interesting topic for discussion. So, what do you think, am I still a Rookie or not?
are you making more money?

2 QUESTIONS I.- ) HEALTH 2.-)Tickets
As far as the triple bypass, I don't know if they'll want to limit the length of your medical card because of that or not. Naturally you'll have to have an acceptable blood pressure to pass the physical and any medications you might be on have to be approved for commercial driving. Any doctor that gives DOT physicals can tell you if your medications will be acceptable or not. If not, your doctor can switch you to something that will be. But as long as your blood pressure and medications are acceptable, I see no problem with you getting a medical card but I don't know how often you'll have to retake the physical.
As far as the tickets, you'll have to answer the question on the application accurately. Some companies only ask about the past three years, some ask about your entire lifetime for certain types of offenses, etc. It varies from company to company. But obviously they do very thorough background checks so they will find anything you've had. You'll have to put down whatever it was you were convicted of, not what you were charged with I believe. And definitely go get a copy of your driving record so you can see exactly what it says.
Now those tickets - how old are they? If they're recent, like in the past 3 years, you're going to have a heck of a time finding work with the major carriers. Having three recent tickets and trying to land a truck driving job is like having three recent incidents of dropping babies on their head and looking for a job at a day care center. Not so good.
thanks BRETT, back to the tickets, I pay for the attorney to avoid points and they only make me pay the fine with " no points", and the other one was dismiss I just paid the attorney and no point given, I wonder if they still(swift ) see those tickets . thanks again

Just make sure that you have a physical address. You have to have a normal address by law. PO Box will not work. So no matter where you go you will still have to have a address to be a truck driver.
THANK YOU I WILL
