Life is looking up

Well officially got my CDL yesterday. Passed my tanker endorsement but hazmat and I didn't get along so well. I'll have to take it again Thursday. But all in all I'm glad that things are working out so I can provide for my family. I accepted a position with Tankstar this afternoon. Life is coming around and I can't wait to get out on the road. I'll be sure to document my training with the company and hope it is beneficial to future drivers.

Tankstar

I was just wondering if anyone on this forum either worked for Tankstar or had any buddies who did?

Looking for info on these companies

So I'm about week through CDL school. I've gotten my pre hire letters from a majority of the companies I expected and I have narrowed it down to Stevens, Covenant, CRST, and Crete. I'm just curious if anyone who works for these companies can give me some insight. Right now I'm really leaning towards Covenant. But again I still have a few weeks before I complete school so am looking to just get information that may not have been given. Thanks everyone. Stay safe out there

Quick question about CRST

Old School

It was because I wouldn't need them to pay for the company training. At least that's how it was explained to me. My GI Bill covers the cost therefore I wouldn't need them to pay for it thus allowing me to make more from the start.

Quick question about CRST

Ok so I had a phone conversation today with a recruiter for CRST and he informed me that because of my prior service to the military that instead of being paid the 26 cents per mile I would be looking at 40 cents per mile. Can anyone actually verify this? Everyone knows how recruiters can be and at the end of the day their job is to recruit so just looking for a little clarification.

What's a good company to start out with?

Done Gone-

For now I'm fine with OTR but once my wife and I start a family I'll be looking more for either regional or dedicated. But I appreciate the advice and I'll definitely take a look at those articles

Brandon, Do you have any idea what you want to do? Tanker? Flatbed, Reefer? OTR? Regional? Dedicated? Take a look at the articles Big Scott recommended. My only advice is this... in almost all cases, it's you and your attitude that matters more than the company!! If you're a good, safe driver with a great attitude, you'll do great wherever you decide to work. The patient, safe, cooperative, good drivers rise to the top of the miles driven at every company... it's not coincidence!! -Done Gone

What's a good company to start out with?

Hello all. My name is Brandon. I'll be leaving the Army in the next 7 days and heading off to school through an army program to get my CDL in July. I was just curious as to what everyone here thought would be a good company to start out with. I know everyone says it's based on what you want but I want to see who people with experience would start out with and why so I can begin compiling a list of companies to look into. Any information is greatly appreciated.
