Daniel said it all. Sometimes, you just have no other choice and your family is counting on you to provide. It can put a lot of pressure on you to make it work. As for your question, I'm sorry, I have no idea. I've never battled depression before. If you do start trucking, I'd seek out professional help if its bad. Being on the road and isolated as we are, it could make it worse. I'd definitely try and find happiness in the little things and call home often. Maybe if you constantly remind yourself why you're driving, you'll keep the depression at bay. You've always got friends on here though, don't hesitate to ask for help.

I trained with FFE in Dallas and overall, it was a really good experience. Most of the trainers we're really likable, and knew what they were talking about. Good luck with whatever you choose though.

I've been driving locally for almost 3 years now, but I've got a job offer from Raider Express in Dallas. They seem like a pretty good company to work for, but other than their own website, I can't find a whole lot of information on them. Anyone on here have any info?

My roommate drove a 2012 auto Volvo for almost 2 years and he'd do runs up to Denver once a week or more and he never had a problem on the snow with his as long as he got his chains on. I've never driven one either so I couldn't tell you. The head instructor at FFE's school in Ft. Worth told me that within 5 years most major companies would be running autos, but idk, that's just his opinion I'm sure.

First time on a greyhound tomorrow
Good luck. The greyhound I took to training was no fun and it wasn't nearly as long a drive as you got ahead of you. The on-board wifi/charging is a God-send.

OTR driver and mail?
I'd have it forwarded to a trusted friend or family members house. Any company is going to want an address for you anyways, regardless if you plan to live out your truck or not. If you still have your own residence, you can have the post office hold your mail for you and you can pick it up whenever you get back into town.
