CDL Sponser Companies hiring from the NYC area?

Off the top of my head, Roehl, Knight and Maverick told me that I'm outside of their hiring area. I've researched a few other sponsor companies and saw that they too weren't hiring from my area.

I wouldn't even mind driving to/from PA if I can land something. It's only about an hour and a half drive from where I live.

CDL Sponser Companies hiring from the NYC area?

Looking for a reputable Sponser Company that hires from the NYC area. Almost every company I look at or have called, they tell me that I'm not within their hiring area.

Off the top of your head, does anyone know of one?

Thanks!

Getting to/from work/home as an OTR driver

When does your home time begin? Does it begin the day you drop off your truck?

Getting to/from work/home as an OTR driver

I'm sure there has to be a simple answer to this but I'm a bit confused from what I've been reading.

If you're an OTR driver, you drive to where your truck is, park your car and head out for x amount of days. Now when you have home time how do you get back to where your car is? What I've been reading is.....You can catch a load going back towards your home "area". Now what do you mean by "area"? Are you driving back to exactly where your vehicle is at so that you can drive home? Or do you have to find your way to your vehicle if you're returning to a location other than where your vehicle is?

Thanks in advance.

CDL-A permit needed prior to enrolling in company sponsored school/training?

Another question I have is....If I decide to go thru with company sponsored training that guarantees work once you complete the course, is it guaranteed to be OTR? I ask because I'm not sure I want be away from home/family for 27 or so days out of the month.

I have the money to pay upfront for my training and I'm leaning more towards doing that so that I have more flexibility and freedom to choose a company and schedule that better suits my needs. Question is....how realistic is it that I land a regional or dedicated route right out of school?

CDL-A permit needed prior to enrolling in company sponsored school/training?

Most of the time you can bring your own permit. However most schools will get you up to speed before you really get into the truck driving stuff.

My recommendation, and what I did, is to get the permit in your home state yourself, and bring that to the party. You just might skip the time needed to get a permit, since you already have one.

Appreciate the info. So, just so I understand....A permit is not required at the time of enrollment?"

CDL-A permit needed prior to enrolling in company sponsored school/training?

I'm currently studying for my cdl-a permit but am wondering if I have to have it prior to enrolling in a company sponsored school for my license or do they also assist you with obtaining your permit while you're there?

Thanks!
