No stripper or porn star. If you really want to know I've been collecting Social security disability and looking for way off, if i can pull it off.Was hoping for Porn Star myself.
We're plenty supportive here. Will your disability prevent you from passing a DOT physical? Are you on meds (psyche, pain, etc.) that you may have to get off or change, before you go to orientation?
We've saved a few people wasted round trips, by helping them find out things that will get them sent home to fox - before they get sent home to fix them.
Rick
Eww...Not looking to see a porn star that is padding income with trucking. Really can't see Siri doing that.
No Stripper/porn star. Just trying to see if I can work my way off Social Security Disability after 10+ yrs. Yes I know this might not work but anything worth a try right? I do have a Plan B if needed

That's been the worry with the DOT/Company physicals. While I seldom take pain meds b/c they don't work and I refuse to use Rx narcotics. Last time I had to use Rx narcotics was 3+ yrs ago when I had surgery. I can drive non CMV vehicles. My biggest worry are the 2 depression meds I take But I've taken them for years and know how they affect me.

I know there are several books out there that have truck stops listed. I have picked up a couple here and there. I know Brett is working on an app for truck stops. I know some of the bigger truck stop companies have their own apps for the smart phones.
I have picked up "The Next Exit" which is a good book for what it is intended. For the vacation traveler mostly. Way too much information for trucking. I have also picked up "Truck stops across America". It just lists the stops. No rating. No in depth information such as restaurants, showers, fuel isles, etc. Just a name, address, highway and exit number was just about all it gave.
There are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of truck stop across the country. Some big company. Some "Mom and Pop" joints.
Most of the Mom and Pop joints that I have run across (I am sure not all are the same) are not the most desirable places to be. The food might be good or not. But just looking at the place, you want to have a guard dog with you when you get out of your truck. Or the place is so dirty, you hope your shots are up to date so you won't catch anything.
And not to just put the light on the Mom and Pop joints. I have visited some of the chains truck stops that were just as bad.
Are there any books out there that list AND rate the truck stops? From a truckers or travelers point of view.
Keep it safe out there. Joe S
Just a side note: I like the picture of the cat. I'm cat lover myself

Eh... I was a phone sex operator and was considered "free lance" so I had 1099s.
And you don't HAVE to have had a job. My sis is 56 and raised three boys and now cares for her grandkids. More men should support a woman's choice to stay home for the family.
Once I make enough money to get out of debt, I'm saving up for a houseboat, and $ to advertise my books. Then I'm enjoying Aruba as I write. I'll be bigger than James Patterson one day and youz guys can say "hey... I used to abuse her when she was a trucker!"
Hahhaha
Wow. Good luck with your books.

Yes I can document my income. If i told you what I've been doing the last 10+ yrs you might not believe me. I've told nobody of this since they won't be supportive. This is more challenging for me than most I have more issues to deal with than most.In nearly 8 years on this board - we've pretty much seen anything and everything.
Stripper? Porn Star? This is kind of anonymous here. Hard to give advice without particulars.

What have you been doing for 10 years?
How have you been supporting yourself?
Can you DOCUMENT IT - like as in letters/affidavits? Tax returns?
As long as you can prove you haven't been in an Al Qaeda training camp - you should probably be OK.
The KEY IS TO BE ABLE TO PROVE IT.
If you've been a married/housewife/mother - letter from your spouse/kids/etc.
So now I'm REALLY CURIOUS - what HAVE you been doing?
Rick
PS - remember how to use the message quote and preview...

Jeeze Janet - calm down.
If you are going Tractor Trailer combination - ANYTHING you are going to drive is going to have Air Brakes.
Getting a HazMat doesn't mean you are going to be hauling nuclear waste - many common household items are placarded (HM) loads in truckload quantities (car batteries, Clorox Bleach - get the idea?). Some companies require HM - and it would be in your best interest to HAVE IT - as this makes you available for more loads than others that do not (you like, want to make $$ - right?). Many companies require Tanker endorsement also - portable tanks (totes) over a certain quantity require the endorsement (even though you won't be pulling a tanker-trailer).
Thousands and thousands of folks take these exams, and have these endorsements. Do the High Road Training Program, and you'll pass all of them with ease.
And really - I know you're nervous - but unless you can't chew gum and walk at the same time - you'll do just fine. CALM DOWN.
Rick
Thanks Rick. Hope this is area for responses that make it easier to read. Studying CDL materials here already. Need eye exam in March. After that I will probably try for school. Looking real hard@Swift.
