TV service

I use a setup like Dave, except I use ATT wifi box for $80 per month of unlimited. I've gotten upto 100GB and still had enough speed to watch youtube without issue or stream a movie.

Which device do you use for that? And what is the name of the plan you're using? I'm browsing their web site now and it looks like the only kind of "hotspot only" device they're selling is the one for wireless home internet. It seems like the big carriers are all trying to avoid offering "true unlimited" plans.

Well that took long enough...

Yes, there are some here from Millis. I was there until December 2017.

How often did you have to sit and wait for loads? I know most of their DMs don't like to do preplans, but it sounds like they manage to keep everybody more or less moving without them. More specifically how often did you have to hang out in Cartersville waiting for loads?

Well, as it turned out, that tech job offer didn't materialize either. So it's back to trying to be a truck driver again. But I've decided that TMC isn't really for me. I'm going to be training with Millis Transfer starting February 5.

Any Millis alumni in here?

Well that took long enough...

So after being strung along since September waiting for a formal job offer from a large tech company that shall remain nameless, I decided to start looking at other employment options, including getting my CDL through one of the paid driver training programs. Back when I drove before, TMC was who I really wanted to work for, but I wasn't old enough at the time. Now they're wanting me. I got a voicemail from my TMC recruiter today wanting to know when I will be available to come to Iowa for orientation and training. Then I got a call from the tech recruiter telling me that FINALLY they should be able to put together a job offer for me by the end of the week.

I'm kind of at odds about what to do. I should probably take the tech job. Even though I'm sick of doing IT work, it's something that I am very good at, and the pay is awesome. But at the same time, I've already invested time in studying for my CDL permit and gotten myself excited at the prospect of working for a company that I've wanted to work for since 1995. How do I politely hold off the TMC recruiter until I get the final word on the other job? I'm kind of worried that the IT job might not pay as well as what I'm hoping, but I won't know until I get the formal offer.

I hate being left hanging and don't really want to do that to somebody else.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I lost a job (that I'd held for 14 years) in 2017, too. Still unemployed, but now..... a new beginning.

GPS Info

Jeff that is a 3 year plus old model. It came out very shortly after the 520/720. It has very limited storage and has to have a micro sim card just for the map updates since it first came out. It will get the job done. You have to hook it to a computer and rm's dock software, which is not the greatest in my opinion to update it. The 540/740 is the newest gos only unit and gets updates over the air. To me that was the selling point. Also has a newer faster processor. I just got mine and haven't even put it in the truck yet. I'm on vacation till the 2nd. From playing with it at the kitchen table it seems alot faster than my old 720. I will post an update after I get on the road with it

Since it updates over the air, does it try to stay current with construction zones, etc. that change often, as well?

GPS Info

Can somebody who is familiar with both the RM TND 740 and the TND 525 give me the rundown on the differences between the two models? Refurb 525s are cheap on Amazon right now.

Almost Embarrassed to Post Picture

The very first load I ever hauled was just a couple of tons of cubicle furniture from Pennsylvania all the way to San Jose. In a 48' reefer, nonetheless.

Jeff...there is no need to drive back to the closest terminal. You'll drive where the freight is going.

This is SOP

Just wanting to make sure that I didn't get myself in a situation similar to the first time I tried this whole truck driving thing. CDS didn't let most of their drivers take their trucks home. I had to meet my co-driver at the drop lot we had in Dallas Pike, WV when we went out. That was a 2 and a half hour drive each time.
