I team drive with my husband for USxpress. We love our job, and our new career as truck drivers.
We were both Respiratory Therapists, worked many years in the trauma center.
However, we decided we needed a change. He's in his 50s, me 40s, and we were burnt out on the medical field. No kids, so we chose trucking. We wanted to get paid to see America!
We attended an 8 week college trucking course together, got our CDLs with all endorsements, and were on our way!
Our families were not supportive of our career change, at all. But now, after almost a year, they see we are happy and having fun out here. So they've become more accepting now.
We make twice the money being team drivers than we did working long shifts at the hospital.
We are happy we decided to make a change. With this career, it's a new adventure everyday!

I'm finished with my schooling 😏
And congrats sister! You'll kick butt on that driving test, I'm sure. Everyone gets nervous, it's normal to be feeling the way you are,
And you ain't gonna forget how to drive between now and your test... Lol.

My instructors are constantly reminding us to not worry so much about grinding a few gears. The examiners are more concerned with your driving safety; traffic checks, lane changes, using mirrors, taking corners, signaling, etc.
That's right.

Truck stop parking: Why are some people just stupid?
There's a lot of rude truckers and 4 wheelers out here. Some days, God gives me the patience to overlook and ignore them.
Other days...not so much. Lol

Forced Dispatch / Rejecting Loads
What DRIVER said. As a rookie, you don't have enough seniority to reject anything during a period when you're supposed to be proving yourself as a "go-getter."

That's right.

I forgot to share with y'all 😏
After we got our first driving job, we realized how glad we were that we attended a college CDL course, like yours, instead of a short 3 week course.
Because getting all the practice you can with backing is extremely important and will be very helpful!
How you doing?

I'm sorry but I'm still confused..
By switching over to the second drivers log, would that stop my 14 hr. clock or would it keep on ticking? Would his clock start up and then he'd not be able to stop it either. Then you'd have 2 clocks going at the same time.
Your correct. That's why teams have to drive in long shifts now. Most teams break it down into driving 10 - 11 each, on twelve hour shifts.
Do teams ever drive on each others logs, doing 5-6 hour shifts? I know some that do. Hopefully they won't get caught.

There are plenty of jobs in trucking! And I see women drivers out here everyday.
Hubby and me team drive and love it. We're making awesome money and are paid tourists.

The rules are the same for teams.
If a driver wants to stop driving after 6 hours and let co-driver take over, you must switch over to the other persons log.

Swift Vs. Knight Transportation? Who To Choose!?
Rhonda. My favorite is " swing wide it's a flippin trailer"! And yes I have a thick skin and a broken cb. Think I'lleave it broke
Lol
I leave my CB off 99.9% of the time. I would hate to hear their comments to me if following me through those narrow construction zones with the concrete walls, because I go slow and take my time. I'm no Super trucker!

A guy that was in my CDL class went with Averitt, in Knoxville, TN.
He is not happy because of low miles. He's looking for another job.
