Lisa L.'s Bio

i have worked ranches and groomed dogs for most of my life. hours of loping horses ,10-12 a day. for some reason, 4 hours at a time at 3 am in the rare snows we get in the south when big competitions were at hand. only to get sent back out and missing the 3 minutes that horse had to cut a calf out of a herd. so the texans that flew in could get the glory. after having my kids i had to buy a house and started grooming dogs. that way i could keep the kids home. somewhere in there i went to school, 18 years of washing cujo the economy hit and dogs came last. after lying in bed looking at the roof and wondering how long i could keep it over our heads ,trucks seemed the best idea i could come up with. so i sold my horse, gave away my bird, rented out a room or two.and now i study all day waiting for my spot in driving school. gov't shutdown put things backwards a bit, but they say they are catching up. so here i am,still grooming enough to eat and waiting for my shot.

U.s.cdl in canada

Good point roadkill. lol. i think i'll just take this a little slower. still taking the tests on this site. i've got my score up to 93, but working toward a 98. brett keeps making me answer the same questions until it sinks in. i made a graph of the psi loss that helps a lot.

Prescribed drug question? DOT

I mentioned before that cr england told me they had a driver on 4 zanex a day. so be up front,do what you have to do. i also find comfort in just having my baby valium on hand. you,re right just knowing they are there works as good as taking them.

will my cdl work if i move to canada? in 6 months my daughter graduates from high school and i should be working. i would like to let out my house and move to canada . what will be required for me to work there. i assume it will be treacherous driving up there but they do it every day. it will probably take more training but i am not in a hurry. this has been my dream to live there,if only for a couple of years.

Turning left

figure 2-14(or 17) shows the truck going into the farthest lane when making a left turn. i got a written warning for doing that in my car, even tho i needed to be in that lane shortly. i did not know that was illegal. there was not a car in sight(except for him). do they allow trucks to do this and if so how big a truck can do this. do trucks have more leeway?

Susannah f i am going thru the WIA program .go to the unemployment office. they will send you and pay for expenses. if they dont use the money they lose it. don't worry about past employment or no employment. i've been self employed most of my life but the economy has pretty much brought that to an end. i just walked in and now im in the required workshops but they have got a school that gets paid half upfront and the rest when they get you a job. keep taking the tests on this site so you will be ready to drive asap. its federal, so go tommorow.

DOT Physical and medication

I wish you luck, but 80,000 lb's and on schedule 3? think about cr england. the recruiter there said she had a driver on 4 xanex a day.( alleged) i understand you must have some severe health problems, but now i'm paranoid about my nightly glass of wine. i'm just saying, maybe think about diesal mechanics. my ex made a healthy income and never left the shop. the WIA can teach you that too and buy your tools. you would be a welcome sight to all stranded drivers.

Update on workforce investment act (WIA)

i just got back from a workshop. necessary for scholarships. we have to take a work keys test this week, its federal so its good all over. they told us they have the money and if they don't use it they lose it. here they pay up to $4ooo for school plus supplies, gas, tools, whatever you need. we've all put in our money so get in there and get the benefits. oh yeah, brett, the practise test had one on reading a psi gauge. i got that one right!

Honestly brett, did you give me the wrong test

i work hours on this thing. daily ,for 3 weeks. yea i work my job in between ,after, and before i take them. i have a 93% but i'm still only 28% done? you overestimate my brain. one more question on psi loss and i will lose more than that, and why do i have to be the purple truck? i want a black truck, who drives a purple truck. uh oh i may have said too much

If driver solutions " can't help me at this time " should i give up on paid CDL training?

Have some faith, pell grants and loans can be dealt with if you are willing. consolidate, start making payments. as long as you are trying,it will count. i was amazed the unemployment office even let me in the door. i have a college degree that i never even picked up the diploma on . i've been self employed as a dog groomer and a horse trainer for, well im a lady so i'll just say longer than brett drove a truck.(maybe). i have to prove i've worked at all. thank you IRS for making me prove it every year . and the year before that, etc.but i am working the tests on this site daily, between the few dogs the economy has left me. i've said here before,i'm single, my child is disabled and her dad is deceased. but if the gov't gives me a hand i'm taking it. i have to make this work. you have to decide if this is what you want and stop it with reasons you can't make it. if i don't ,taking these tests and just listening to the guys on here, will not have been a waste of time

Test taking advice and question

this sounds obvious, but read the question. i have missed a lot of questions in which i knew the correct answer. the terms "except" "all of these" "which is correct" etc. have tripped me up more than it would have if i had read the question until i fully understood what it wanted. are the tests timed and if so how long.

Sorry About That! Deleted The Wrong Stuff

Good grief brett. how you learned to do this so well is amazing to me considering all your years on the road. this is one of the most well formatted and complex sites i've seen. so you made a mistake,i didnt even notice. still working on your tests 4-6 hours a day. i've even started hanging out at the local truck stop. the drivers are always helpful when i tell them what i've learned.i hit them at the pumps so i don't slow them down.
