Immigration (Coming from the UK) help

Hey all!

Im looking into fulfilling a trucking dream and coming to the states to drive trucks! Obviously its all a bit of a mine field and there seems to be a tonne of confusion in regards to what you do and do not require. I have the UK equivalent of what I believe to be the CDL A license. Can someone tell me if this means anything in the US or is it useless?
