In CDL school getting really discouraged, is it time to call it quits?
I was complete garbage until test day. And even struggled more after going solo. I know it sounds cliche, but just keep reminding yourself that you can do it.

Choose trucking company per your location
That all depends on how you define home time. I’ve taken home time in Vegas, Atlanta, and probably 12 other places

Paid CDL - Automatic or manual transmissions.
Paul T. there isn’t a correct answer. I know ppl who’ve been driving manuals for years. Now they’ve been forced into automatics. I trained and tested in manual. Swift placed me in an automatic. I love my auto btw. There are so many opportunities that I don’t think having an auto restriction will have an effect on your life

Usually when ppl say something is 100% their fault they don’t go on to blame it on someone else

Western Express Trucking Contract
In those 6 months how many loads have you declined? How often have you complained to them about everything? I ask because my first 6 months at Swift were all trials and tribulations. Companies aren’t dumb. They tend to start you in the kiddie pool before they toss you in the olympic pool with Michael Phelps. At Swift(insert big bad wolf emoji) I get 2000 miles pretty easily
Cant refuse loads as company driver and I don't complain spent first 2 months without going home and when I did go it was for a day and a half, supposed trainer only had 4 months driving and was already training and when he was driving was on his phone and falling asleep but that is probably my fault to but I didn't complain about that of course is my fault I feel you guys give to much credit to mega carriers but wait this site is just about that no really telling the truth
You came to trucking...TRUTH. The truth is, in one thread you’ve managed to blame everyone from dispatch to your suddenly horrible trainer. If you look in the mirror I’m sure you’ll see who you left out.

Don’t go until you’re sure you are clean. I know of a few ppl who somehow did some hocus pocus and got a clean test. I know of plenty more who seemed “shocked” that the test found x or y in their system.

How minor is minor? I only ask because many ppl come on here slamming their dispatcher and proclaiming minor accidents. After a little digging it comes out that they drove through a McDonalds

29cpm to 57cpm in 5 month rookie driver
Pegasus is a subdivision of CRST. They do solo and team. I'm running team with my co driver from CRST. It's pharma loads mostly.
Did you already have another driver or did the company pair you?

For those with Prime, Inc or knowledge of company driving.
Trust me, you’ll never be forced into home time unless you’re fired. This is my first solo year and I started by being in my truck for 6 months Straight.

Discouraged? Bah humbug. I left my walmart job of 11 years in May 2008. Went to Prime and went home without testing. Thought life was over. Went to Roehl in October of 2008. Passed test but couldn’t do the practical driving. Thought life was over again. Finally came to swift where i have a year under my belt. You’ll be ok

What place is it?
Martin Brower in Manassas, VA. I was able to get one driver to help me. Unfortunately many drivers are content watching the foolish swift driver. They were happy to pull out their phones and record though.

Most places I’ve been are setup with drivers in mind. Walmart DCs, for instance, have plenty of room and you never have to blind side back. My next load delivers to somewhere I’d be forced to blind side back. Any pointers? I’ve thought of turning down the load for this reason. But I obviously did not

Best backing videos on YouTube?
The key to backing is don’t hit anything. That’s it. Take your time. Don’t rush. GOAL. Sometimes you’ll have to pull up multiple times. Sometimes you’ll have to drive around and start from the beginning. But as long as you don’t hit anything your backing is fine.
