Why would Knight Transportation reject someone?

So here is my story... After months of researching I finally decided on Knight transportation as the company I wanted to go with. After reviewing their website, I found out I would need my permit so a few weeks ago I got my DOT physical and passed the written tests to earn my CDL permit. So last week, applied with Knight and shortly after my recruiter called me to explain everything to me and to get more info. A few days later she was done with my background check and said everything came out fine so we proceeded. Next I had to fill out tons of pre hire forms and once I finished that I had to go get a company physical and drug test so yesterday I drove to the Gulfport, MS terminal and passed the company physical/fitness test and drug/alcohol test. Everything was looking great and my recruiter said she was just waiting to see when my start date would be for training, however, for some unknown reason she emailed me today and said that she had passed my application and information to safety and safety had decidegood-luck.gifgood-luck.gifgood-luck.gifgood-luck.gif d to pass on me. She said they did not disclose to her the reason so that is all the info she had and that I could try and reapply with them in 6 months. My question is this, if I have passed every test they have thrown at me and had no issues with my background, why would they just pass on me?

I feel your pain bro. Not exactly sure why they would pass on you. Ive been hitting a roadblock as well and I feel your pain 100 percent. I have noticed that some of these companys are passing on people for more qualified drivers because there are getting sooo many applications. I did the same thing as you, got my physical and permit and all my records and job history, and central refridge told me the same thing. Keep on Keeping on and im sure you will find a great company. In my situation I am going to be doing local trucking for awhile to gain some experience and let my expungement of my record clear. I look forward to following your progress and good luck good-luck.gif

Good news, and bad news

Hi all,

I'm new to both this forum and the industry. Good luck to you and getting your record taken care of. What I've noticed is that a lot of the companies move things along at a very fast pace. I was hired by Shaffer and in orientation before I really knew what the hell was going on. Then I was thrown into a truck with a trainer and away I went. Overall a good experience but it all flew by me and I had to scramble to get some information that I didn't know I needed to provide, so yes have all your ducks in a row

I am being very careful about having everything in order. actually been working on this for months getting dmv record background checks done and finding all the address and numbers of my old employers. also got my permit. Ready to roll as soon as possible. Ya I hear they make it fast pace to see if you can handle the pressure and keep a cool head

How old were you when this happened, if you were a Minor I'm surprised it just wasn't sealed. I live in the State of Idaho and pretty much anything of that sort will get Sealed if you do what judgement was given.

I was 20 almost 21. I wish I would have been a minor, it would have made this a lot smoother. I paid a 100 dollar fine and it was then dismissed, but its still on there till I file for an expungment. Im staying strong and confident but it still sucks a petty offense is costing my a shot at my dream job at least for a few more months. patience is a virtue :)

I hope they can get rid of it quickly but I went threw England and its very fast pace. Make sure to have all your ducks in a row before showing up, Driver License, Birth Certificate and when they ask you if you have ever done drugs just flat out say Never! I don't care what everyone tells you about being honest. Also they will do a **** test on everyone and a Random Hair Follicle, so be prepared to know that you might be one of them.

As for studying they also have an online studing guide, use it because its very close to the test given at the Local DMV. I found it to be almost identicle. After you get your permit they take you out to the backing range right away and start showing you how to back and let you practice in groups. Its been awhile since I was in school but I think on Thursday or the 4th day you are there they take you out on the highway and pull over in a business park and make you drive. Yup, thats right! No instructions on how to shift, turn or anything. They put you in the seat and tell you to drive and you'll most likely grind every gear possible and start breaking a sweat. Atleast I know I did because I was the unlucky guy that got to go first.

Any questions let me know..

thanks for the help I appricate it. good to know about the fast pace lol. but sadly it looks like along time to get this record expunged. looking at possibly months and right now I just don't have that kind of time in my current situation. hopefully everything goes well with quality drivers on Thursday and I can start training for a local job in Denver. sadly I don't think there is much else I can do at this point

England said to call them when I get it expunged but also that things might change by then, so no guarantees.

well I got accepted to train with c.r England. which is great news, but the bad news is I have to get my record expunged first. not sure how long that takes or what I need to do, but once I get that done it appears im good to go. I will keep jumping thru as many hoops as I have to lol

to add to this, hopefully I can get it expunged quickly, but looks like it could take months. so as of now im keeping my appointment and going to attend quality driver school, and get a local gig hauling in Denver. gotta do what I gotta do

Had a question and wonder if anywon knows if its true?

It wasn't to long ago that a few trucks got busted for transporting Cocaine and Marijuana but in one of the incidents the Driver actually notified the Authorities and they watched the guys come pick up their Cocaine and then arrested them.

wow that's crazy. I would never ever do anything so foolish. A few bad apples ruin it for everyone in my situation.
