Good deal Brandon. Hopefully I'll run into you. 1 week down and I feel pretty good about everything so far. The first few days you almost feel overwhelmed with all the information they are giving you. But by the end of the week I am starting to feel more comfortable in the truck. It does go fast, like I said earlier we hadn't stepped foot in the truck till Tuesday and by friday morning they have is driving around an industrial park in live traffic with a van trailer. I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning, I'm going to be driving us from the terminal to the industrial park which is probably a 20 min ride.

Thanks Brandon. That's great news. Seems to really be alot of good people at Roehl. Our trainers are Norman and Lathan. Things are really starting to move along now. Spent the first half of today bobtailing around the lot. I really feel more comfortable with the truck. After a couple more runs on the simulator learning to make turns with a trailer we went out and got hooked up to one. We learned the rest of the pretrip for the trailer and the in cab portion. Tomorrow we will be more driving and possibly backing with the trailers.

Just finished my 2nd day. Most of the first day was paperwork and watching some videos and some power point stuff. We have 7 people in our class( one didnt show up) both trainers we have are really laid back and seem cool. 6 of us are flatbedders and 1 will be going into reefer. First half of the day today learning the Roehl way. I really get the sense roehl is completely committed to safety and treat their drivers well. After lunch we watched a pre trip video and then went to the 2 trucks we will be training on. Only 3 of us on my truck so I hope that means each of us will get a little more time each behind the wheel. Actually got to make some laps in the truck for the first time getting used to double clutching and shifting. All 3 of us seemed to pick it up pretty quick. All in all things are going good so far.

Roehl GYCDL Training

Hey everyone. My name is Andy. Im 40 and live in central Ohio. I've got a great wife of 5 years and 2 boys, 4 and 10. I've been an electrician for 21 yrs.....until yesterday lol. Have always had a fascination with big trucks. My dad being a lifelong truck driver probably had something to do with it. When I was young I remember when he owned his own truck and pulled a flatbed. Thought that was the coolest thing ever. So fast forward 35 yrs and being totally burnt out from the construction industry I am starting this Monday in the Roehl GYCDL program in Gary Indiana. And I will be in the flatbed division.

I want to thank everyone who posts in this forum. There is so much valuable information and I like the attitude that trucking is what you make of it and not all the company bashing that goes on in the other forums. Following all the great advice that's here I'm sure that I can be a success in this industry
