Dillon Transport, Inc. Minimum Hiring Qualifications

To be hired as an experienced driver:

  • Must have a minimum of (18) months of verifiable driving experience or attended a certified commercial motor vehicle driving school with a minimum of (12) months driving experience operating a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce.
  • If a driver applicant has (12) months of experience specific to the equipment being operated and has (6) months of recent verifiable experience within the past (12) months, similar to the type of equipment being utilized and similar to the type of operation for the position for which the applicant is applying and demonstrates the driving skills at the level of an experienced driver in a road evaluation, the applicant may be considered for employment.

To be hired/qualified as an inexperienced driver:

  • Must have successfully completed a certified commercial motor vehicle driving school approved by Dillon Transport, Inc. within the past (12) months with (6) months of verifiable driving experience in interstate commerce, the applicant may be considered for employment, OR
  • Applicant with less than (12) months of experience must have successfully completed a truck driver-training program approved by Dillon Transport, Inc. and pursued employment within 30 days after graduating an approved truck training program, OR
  • Possess equivalent experience as evidenced by previous driving experience, including military training and experience, completion of recognized tractor-trailer refresher course, and/or demonstrated performance on a road evaluation and no more than (24) months has elapsed since holding a full-time driving position, the applicant may be considered for employment.

NOTE: Any applicant with a gap of (24) months or longer with (18) months prior driving experience who has held a non-driving position will be required to attend a refresher course conducted by a certified commercial motor vehicle driving school approved by Dillon Transport, Inc. prior to making an offer to the applicant.

Dillon Transport, Inc. Driver Benefits

  • Insurance: Full-time employees are eligible for insurance benefits on the first of the month following 60 days of active, continuous employment after date of hire.
  • 401K Plan: Employees 21 and over (full-time and part-time) are eligible to participate in the 401k plan on the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment after date of hire.
  • Vacation: 1 year = 1 week, 3 years = 2 weeks, 8 years = 3 weeks
  • Paid Holidays: Full-time employees are eligible to receive holiday pay after 90 days of continuous employment.
  • Referral Bonus: Any employee who refers a driver to Dillon Transport receives a $100 referral bonus once the new driver successfully completes the training program and is driving. The referring employee receives an additional $500 if the new driver remains continuously employed and incident-free for six months.
