Company sponsored CDL training
I have attended day one orientation with a local company. It was just paperwork and signing things, including a contract. I didn’t set foot in the truck, or received any training whatsoever. On that same day I received a job offer with the State. It’s a great job with outstanding benefits. My dilemma is that if I quit the truck company on Monday, will I owe them money? I know reading the contract would be the ideal solution but I don’t have that in front of me right now, it’s really bugging me. The contract is a pretty hefty 7,500 so that’s another reason I’m bugging out.

Thanks y’all. Company is family owned very nice people. I did read the contract pretty well (not well enough obviously). At the time I was not considering any other jobs and was perfectly fine with signing on for 2 years as that was only option. I didn’t read the fine print about what happens if I leave because I didn’t plan on leaving at all. The state job is a law enforcement job so I don’t think I’ll be standing around too much. I report to the academy next month. I have spoken with the trucking company head, and they wished me all the best and nullified my contract without issues. Thank you all again and stay safe out there.
