Oleg, there is no way we could answer this question for you. We don't even know which company this is with.
You signed a contract without knowing what was in it. One day later you want to be free from it. Trucking takes a lot of commitment. It is fairly obvious you were not prepared for that. I recommend you go work for the state. They generally hire four or five people to do one person;s job. That makes it easy to soak up their benefits without having to prove you are worth the investment. Trucking will be the total opposite. You will be expected to stand out and do the work equivalency of four or five people. Trucking is all about personal responsibility and productivity. It is a commodities business with really tight margins and it takes movers and shakers to make it work.
The first thing you need to do is have a sit down talk with the manager of the training program that you are at. Just tell them the truth. Tell them during your first day of orientation you realized this was not the kind of job you wanted. You can't stay and honor the contract you signed. Most contracts have some sort of a short time period in which you can back out. I'll bet you can do that in this situation. I do not know for sure how they will react, but you have to make this decision immediately. I think they will realize they are better off by letting you move on. Don't hesitate. Go get that job with the state. If they insist you pay the contract then so be it. Set up payments with a collection agency. At least you won't be stuck in a career that demands commitment and a willingness to make things happen.
When you start that job at the state, make sure you don't sign anything without knowing what it says. Hopefully you learned a lesson and will not forget it. If you knew what you had signed you wouldn't be stressing out and seeking advice from a bunch of unknown internet knuckleheads like me.
Good luck Oleg!

Thanks y’all. Company is family owned very nice people. I did read the contract pretty well (not well enough obviously). At the time I was not considering any other jobs and was perfectly fine with signing on for 2 years as that was only option. I didn’t read the fine print about what happens if I leave because I didn’t plan on leaving at all. The state job is a law enforcement job so I don’t think I’ll be standing around too much. I report to the academy next month. I have spoken with the trucking company head, and they wished me all the best and nullified my contract without issues. Thank you all again and stay safe out there.

I have attended day one orientation with a local company. It was just paperwork and signing things, including a contract. I didn’t set foot in the truck, or received any training whatsoever. On that same day I received a job offer with the State. It’s a great job with outstanding benefits. My dilemma is that if I quit the truck company on Monday, will I owe them money? I know reading the contract would be the ideal solution but I don’t have that in front of me right now, it’s really bugging me. The contract is a pretty hefty 7,500 so that’s another reason I’m bugging out.
