Thank you BK and George, I appreciate your honesty, and it gives me a heads up on what to expect, as a journeyman plumber I know what you saying about learning a new trade such as trucking. We got young guys coming into the plumbing trade , we train them for year or two then we let them into a truck. Well once there in truck they start thinking they should get 30.00 bucks an hour well hell there still learning… it takes time to get to the big bucks…. So I understand I’ve got to get through the learning stage of driving them monster trucks… I’m so excited to learn but nervous… I wrote another post on this subject about Pam.. the other trucks basically stated the same thing. I’ll get more questions answered from my recruiter but now with the information I have from all you truckers out there. GOD BLESS THE TRUCKERS…I will talk to some other company’s as well before I decide who to go with.. BK I hope your not still stuck in Oklahoma hope you got it figured out on your cdl… thanks again guys….

Got few questions. #1Driver solutions do they actually work for Pam or the trucking school? #2 I read trucking truth on Pam and it states first 1 to 2 years you’ll make 30,000.00 to 40,000.00 a year. But as I scroll down Pam says I could make up to 60,000.00 first year. So is 30,000 to 40,000 really what a new driver could expect? This is Trucking Truth…. #3 Does Pam transport have there own trucking school? Where as driver solutions sends you to a different school? Then Pam reaches out to hire ? #4 Going thru driver solutions I will have to pay I believe 45 to 50.00 a week once I’m hired thru Pam. But on trucking truth they say no payment just work for them for one year. Where I’m confused is does Pam transport have there very own school where as driver solutions is like a 3 rd party and this is why I have to pay around 2000.00 dollars back the the rest will be forgiven… Pam says says school and training is free … There’s so much different information out there.

I live in sapulpa near Tulsa go there everyday and yes they have increased the speed few months back, the highway patrol had a report on the news here that it’s common nowadays to have drivers doing 75mph plus.. creek turnpike always speeding. Patrol always pulling them over on creek turnpike… but Denver 90 to 100 mph is crazy if they wreck I’m sure you will not survive buckled or not buckled…

Thank you PACKRAT and cool name…. Lol Your right (UP TO). Keywords … I understand also it’s performance based plus I’m learning a lot.. G-Town how are ya sir.. yes on my bp I’m doing much better I’ve gotten it down to acceptable levels. Below the 140/90 so I’m ver happy been exercising more. Feeling better next I had my stomach hernia fixed had surgery 11-2-22 when he got in there he found 3 rips… so now my hernia is fixed with mesh they actually fixed it with a robot. So I was down for 2 weeks … so im getting my ducks in a row… I Want to be a Truck Driver…. I was talking to driver solutions feeling out paper work… well this morning at 8 am I get a call from PAM she told me that driver solutions is a 3rd party tats why there trading is 5995 and after 1 year they will for give 4000. Dollars and I pay only 2000. So 45.00 dollars a week would come out of my paycheck. Pam recruiter stated PAM would not charge me as long as I complete 1 year. Plus I would go solo.

Hello, I have couple questions to ask… been talking to a recruiter with Pam Transportation with (Driver solutions). Does anyone know anything about driver solutions trucking schools? Would it be better for me to go thru a company sponsored cdl program? I understand that driver solutions and Pam trucking work together. Will I get good training thru truck driver school.? Does pam transport run more teams. I would like to run solo when I get done with training . I see they talk more about team pay ect. She stated I could make up to $75,000 my first year with Pam transport. And up to $80,000 for driving teams. I’ve looked at other web sites with Pam and it states as a solo driver make up to 50,000 and 60,000 as a team driver. Also saw that I would have to drive team for 6 months before switching over to solo. Recruiter would like to start running my back ground check dot physical and drug test, she states I could start school 12/27/22.. I’m excited that my trucking career could be starting very soon. Any comments by you Pam truck drivers and other experienced truck drivers… there web site states $ .30cents a mile, when I see say wil-trans trucking it’s $.40 cents a mile. Ty for an input… Freebird…..

Freebird here… Hello Friends., I’ve been talking with ROEYL Transport, I really like there set up on training, Very excited.. I’m set to take cdl-a permit on October 10 th, ROEYL will set up my DOT physical. Here’s my question. To ya…. I went to my primary dr to do a physical, I’m 54 years old I have the classic pot belly, lol… have been exercising at least 30 minutes on my wife’s bike every other day… so my dr said I have high blood pressure it’s been 185/116, to 170/100… so my fr upped the dose.. I’ve had high blood pressure approximately 5 years but controlled by med. then he found a hernia in my stomach, which never bothers me , I’m doing plumbing I lift tools , pipe, wares heaters etc.. my dr stated that he wants to see me In a month.. and I’m supposed to keep a record of my blood pressure.. so I’m concerned now about passing dot physical.. should I or should I not tell my recruiter that I need to move my dot physical and cdla permit test to another date do to high blood pressure and stomach hernia… My wife said not to tell her … But I need your advice…How to handle this… this really sucks … the stomach hernia does not bother me I still do my job plumbing every day… Will I be able to still work as a OTR trucker… or will I be disqualified? Ty

Freebird here hello to all,
Need some advice, first I talked to my boss and owner of plumbing company I work for and gave my 2 to 4 month notice, little long but there really a great company and people… plus I need to study and learn soak all this in, I made my appointment to take my CDLpermit, 10-3-22 @10 a.m.here in Tulsa there running 60 days behind..but what dmv isn’t right lol… I’m at 80 percent on trucking truth’s brake tests, which parts do I need for permit? so got a ways to get passing grade…I’ll do it lots to study thank god for your site… my question is do I need to get my medical card first ?will dmv want to see it before getting my permit? I spoke with wil-trans briefly and received application and also USA trucking responded back to me… So my journey has began.. I’ve not been this excited since Back when I First got into plumbing and got my new tools and my first plumbing truck… Also do you know if CB radios come with the trucks or do I need to buy my own ? TY
Hi again, FreeBird!
Hope those links I dropped in your last thread are helping you; they should be!
In answer to your question, YES you DO need a DOT physical first. State notwithstanding anymore.
Here's the link; it's in item #1 ~FMCSA Steps to CDLP and CDLA.
The above link also discusses the new ELDT mandates, set forth on 02/07/22. Check that out, as well.
Hope this helps; best to ya, again!
~ Anne ~
ps: re, the CB's . . . you'll just have to ask, per company. Doubtful, but even the cheap ones from a thrift store are better than nothing.
Freebird here… Thank you to all, a shout out to ya Ann…I’ll get in for the med card… Roehl trucking , think I spelled it right.. I was looking into them … I filled or started filling out an application. They ran my DL info. And my jobs. That was last Friday , a recruiter called Monday.. they seem to have a really good program…. Keep ya informed… and maybe see ya or hear ya on my CB Radio….love it… p.s. I have a couple company’s wil-trans I’m in talks with there recruiter also… there program sounds great…Freebird out…..

Hello everyone, I’m really considering getting into Trucking, it’s been a dream for a long time. But here’s my question I’m 54 years old, I’m on lyrica (pregablin) for nerve pain caused by back issues. Last I’m also on Eliquis which is a blood thinner, I have dealt with blood clots . I will stay on blood thinner rest of my life. I’m a journeyman plumber by trade so I work every day in all kinds of positions… lol .. Ty for your feed back…. P.s. with these meds I’ve been doing great I feel much better. But plumbing is kicking my body’s but…
Hi Ann and sometime tom, thank you for the information , there’s a lot there.. yes can’t believe I’m telling this but I had a really cool pair of red parachute pants lol, and my mullet, left ear pierced, the 80s were sooo cool… Ty for the memories….
Shout out to BK yes I’ve been at it for 30 years not as long as you were but long enough….Got you on Brain Pain see what your saying…Yes on my name I was hoping no one else had it….
Howdy Back… Laura, I’m on blood pressure meds also , only 1 at this time, that makes me feel better that they will work with me on blood pressure and blood thinner meds… yes I’m going to start working out well as soon as I get out of my lazy boy…. Lol as for mask mandate…. I had got the shots last year 1st on may of 2021 , second one June… then the company I worked For mandated to where masks inside customers home , January 2nd 2022 I got pneumonia both lungs , went to er I had Covid-19 took 4 tests last was positive , no beds in Tulsa spent 5 days in er , so they life flighted me to fort smith Arkansas , spent another 2 weeks there.. So here it is for me I do not believe in the shots or masks…. And our President? Point made….

Physical Control Charge in Ohio
In Oklahoma if your in a vehicle drunk sleeping no big deal…BUT if your in a vehicle drunk sleeping with the keys in the ignition it’s a DUI Misdemeanor charge. You don’t even have to have the vehicle running just them keys in the ignition. Ohio not sure. Hope all works out….
