Split Sleeper Berth

Hello, I had a question about split sleeper berth.

1. Is there a minimum number of hours to drive before doing a split sleeper berth?

Like do you need to drive 3 hours or four or more before you can do a split sleeper berth?

2. The way it works is you drive for the minimum amount and then you go "off" for two hours but you gain back eight hours or you go "off" three hours and gain back seven hours. Is my understanding correct?

Thanks for the help.

Dealing with wind

What's the best thing to do when you feel like it's dangerously windy when you are driving?

Is it best to stop or better to try to drive out of the wind gusts?

Is wind something to be concerned about? I've seen videos of trucks knocked over by it. But maybe this is rare.

Any general tips for dealing with heavy wind gusts is appreciated.

Stay with CFI one year at least. What are they paying you?

Not paying

How can a trucking company exist if it can't afford to fuel theirtrucks?

I would ask them to message me a location to drop the truck off. If they do not have money for payroll there is a pretty high chance they can not afford fuel or maintenance. I would rather get out of there while I can instead of running a risk of being stranded.

Can I provide alternative documentation, such as signed employment contracts or letters from my employer, to verify my income?

I'd say only the recruiter at the company your interested in could answer that. Every company has their own policies.

I had a job once where I was an independent contractor. My employer accepted a 1099. Ask your recruiter what they accept. That's what they're there for.

UPS: $170,000 per year pay package

Yeah UPS has always been that way. Knew a guy who drove for them for 20 years then left. Went back to them a year later and they said sorry you have to be a package sorter first.

They're strict. First you put the boxes on the trucks. Then after so long of that, you can drive their box trucks around. Do that long enough, a position opens up, they'll have to get your cdl and drive for them. Not quick process.

Talking Shop: The Just Talking Thread

I always get a little concerned when I'm driving through a rural area near a small town and my GPS says to turn on main Street because I know that it's gonna look just like this and basically every other Street in the town is gonna be a no go for me.

Had this exact thing happen in Illinois. Somewhere around Nauvoo. I had to make a right turn there. Thankfully it was late so no cars. I used up 100% of that street plus a foot of sidewalk to make that turn. No Bueno.

How often should I be greasing my fifth wheel?

A little background on me and advice needed with the left offset and 90

If you do not pass, you owe them $7500. If you do pass, I'd imagine you'd owe them as well? Or are they waiving tuition or something?

As far as offset backing, the way that you described is exactly how I was taught as well.

To offset left, wheel hard right, back until you see the middle of the cross member by your landing gear, stop, hard left until you are straight and then wiggle your way in with SMALL adjustments to the wheel.
