Snowpocalypse 2 Coming to Atlanta

Oh my! Now I have to thow in my two cents. Let me clear some things up please. I live in a small town south of Charlotte, NC. Most people dont have teeth, nor can they speak very good english. Most work hard for the few bucks they get. But they cant get paid if they dont go to work. Hmm sounds like the rest of us. Being from Buffalo, NY I laughed the first time I saw the snow coming down and everyone freaking out. Man these people cant drive. Fact 1- most people in the south came from the north. There might be two real Charlotonians, the rest are transplants. That being said lets move to Fact 2- I have been stuck in the house for two days. No going outside to enjoy a nice fire and a few beers. There is four inches of snow and two inches of ice outside. And yes its cold as could be, for down here. My septic system is messing up and backing up into the house. Cant get anyone out here to clear it because the roads are full of ice and people are just not working. Whaaa, at least I have bread and milk and beer :) Sorry got off track....Fact 3- Buffalo has ten million snowplows and salters. SC has two. When they budget for winter supplies like salt Buffalo put ten billion aside for it, SC slides a whole ten dollars off to the side just incase. Now I may have fibbed on the numbers but you get the point. It was 63 four days ago darn it! Fact 4- I didnt come down here for this crap! You dam yankees keep this nasty stuff up north where it belongs. I was suppose to be golfing on my week off, not reading forums on TT. Ok I would stil be reading TT. Dont hate on us just because we enjoy nice winters. Blame the darn global warming. Wheres that lieing Al Gore? Slow down and enjoy the ride. Grab a sweet tea, some cheap smokes and maybe some fried chicken and enjoy all the southern hospitality and stop being so mean to all of us that were smart enough to move south. "I wasnt born in the south but I got here as soon as I could" Ya'll be safe! :)

When to test.... High Road question

Ken, I just wanted to jump in here and ask a few questions. Not that I know anything but... You live up by 16 from what you wrote, good DMV up there not so busy as most. I am done here in Chester. Anyway, you said you were goning to get your permit, or thinking about it. If you go to "school" I was told that you test at school. Not that you shouldn't be prepared. I am going to go down here in Chester right on #9 exit 65 they have a school. I have talked with them and believe thats the way Im going to go. I suggest if you are thinking of school check them out. I am retiring from the AF in May and going straight there. If you decide to go to a school house I would check before you got your permit.

I have a freind who drive for Knight. He complains about everything, just the way he is. He has no complaints about them at all. So that tells me they must be ok. He went through the company for training, again no complaints, except he had to have some dude in his truck for a month :) I have been lurking and checking everything out on this site, which is outstanding! I will have tested out enough by the time I go to school enough not to have anything to worry about, test wise.

Gosh I cant wait! I even have my Hawian shirts, shorts and flip flops ready so Guy can take my pic at the first truck stop he sees me at. Good Luck bro!

Forced dieting.....

Dude! Welcome to the club. Without getting into why I have had fakies for about three years. Went thru all the crap, soft food, shakes and what ever you think you can handle. I wouldnt wear my lowers because they would just fall out. I went to the dentist and asked about those new fangled ones that dont fall out. After some drilling and some new pain, they installed four posts in my lower jaw and now my lowers just snap in and I can eat almost anything. I say almost, havent found anything I cant eat but I am sure there is something. My uppers are still free so I remove them at night and at some other times that I cant talk about here. Best thing I ever did. You will get used to it trust me. Just like starting a trucking job in 6 months you wont even remember how bad it sucked when you were getting used to them. Enjoy the suck bro. It will be over soon enough. I like the shake idea. That sounds good. I had to stop with the shakes, DQ is so good. I spent years not being able to eat ice cream. So I tryed to make up for it all the first few months. Not to good for the mid section :)

Trucking school has no trailer?

Not that I know much, but I do know the school around the cornor from my house has no trailers or tractors on the weekdays because they are out on the road. Because of the advise I read about here, I went and talked to the school house. I met the instructors and the people going to class that week. Stop in, say hey. You may be surprised. Good luck!

Lurkers!

Ok so you dont like lurkers? I have been lurking for a few months but you drug me out. I have been all around your site. I decided a few months ago it was time to retire from the AF and start doing something a little less stressful. Oh and no you cant track me so stop trying :) I have only a few months to go before I start school around the cornor fom my house in SC. I have been reading all sorts of reviews, advise and whatever I could find on your site. Didnt want complaining, just wanted the truth. THANKS! Hate when all people do is complain, life is so hard whaaa. I wanted and recieved the truth from ya'll. Decided on school instead of company training, because of what I researched on here. Is it better? No one said. They just said the pros and cons of both. I still dont know what company, but that will come. I was thinking of Schnider(spelling is not my strong point) but didnt like something I read on here so thats seems to be out. I appreciate all the advice and stories all the folks here put on. I have learned so much. What to ask, what to expect, what to look forward to, and most of all what not to do. Thanks again. I'm here and will be lurking around in the shadows :) I will take my free fake cookie now.
